The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer specializing in custom and specialty framing merchandise. Michaels is dedicated to inspiring creativity and celebration among its customers by providing a welcoming and innovative environment where individuals of all ages can explore and develop their artistic skills and passions.
At Michaels, we understand the importance of creating memorable experiences and fostering a fun, engaging atmosphere both in-store and through special events. To support this mission, we are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Event Coordinator to join our team at the Burlington, VT location. This role focuses on planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other community activities designed to entertain and engage guests of all ages. The Event Coordinator will play a vital role in ensuring every event runs smoothly, providing exceptional customer service and contributing to a welcoming environment conducive to creativity.
The Event Coordinator will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously, handling all logistical and operational aspects from planning to clean-up. This includes engaging with clients to tailor events according to their needs, instructing participants in craft projects, performing activities like face painting, and managing party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to meet company standards. Effective communication with clients and store team members is crucial to ensure client satisfaction and successful event execution.
In addition to event coordination, this role involves delivering excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with product location and purchases, providing a fast and friendly checkout experience, educating customers about rewards programs and credit cards, and supporting omni-channel processes like Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). The Event Coordinator will also contribute to operational tasks including truck unloading, merchandising, store recovery, stocking, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety standards.
Candidates for this position should exhibit energetic enthusiasm and possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Experience working with children and children’s events is essential, as well as strong communication abilities in verbal, written, and nonverbal forms. The role demands the ability to work well under stress, handle multiple responsibilities effectively, and interact positively with customers and co-workers of diverse ages and backgrounds.
This position requires physical capabilities such as standing for extended periods, moving throughout the store, bending, lifting, and reaching. The work environment includes climate-controlled public retail areas, stock rooms, some outdoor tasks, and potential exposure to equipment in the framing shop. Shift schedules may involve nights, weekends, and early mornings.
Michaels offers a competitive hourly wage range of $14.75 to $17.30 along with robust benefits packages for both full-time and part-time team members. These benefits include health insurance options, paid time off, tuition assistance, employee discounts, and more. At Michaels, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, providing reasonable accommodations upon request to enable all team members to thrive. Join Michaels and become part of a passionate team dedicated to fueling the joy of creativity and celebration every day.
