Job Description
The ODP Corporation is a renowned leader in the business services and office products industry, operating through its subsidiaries Office Depot, LLC and ODP Business Solutions, LLC. Established in 1986 with a single store in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, the company has grown into a multi-billion-dollar enterprise with over 1,300 retail stores nationwide and a comprehensive online presence. It serves millions of customers globally, providing a wide range of products and services including office supplies, technology, furniture, print services, and business solutions. The company prides itself on fostering innovation and delivering total solutions through its integrated business-to-business (B2B) distribution platform and omnichannel capabilities, which include a world-class supply chain, dedicated sales professionals, and robust distribution operations.
The Retail Team Lead (part-time) position at Office Depot is an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and driving sales across a diverse product portfolio. This role centers on providing "total solutions" to customers by engaging them with technology products, furniture, print services, and other offerings. The Retail Team Lead plays a pivotal role in building and maintaining customer relationships, often becoming a trusted advisor through specialized training on sales techniques and product knowledge. The position demands a deep commitment to a customer-centric environment, active engagement with the local community, and upholding the Office Depot values known as the 5Cs: Customer, Commitment, Change, Caring, and Creativity.
In this role, the Retail Team Lead will utilize proven sales principles to proactively engage customers, properly assess their needs, and ensure satisfaction in every encounter. They will champion a vibrant sales culture, working closely with associates to uphold the highest visual merchandising standards and maintain efficient store operations, including freight and logistics activities. The Retail Team Lead also bears critical responsibilities as a part-time Key Carrier. This role includes managing opening and closing procedures, ensuring the safety and security of the store and associates, and potentially performing Leader on Duty functions.
The position supports the Print Sales and Services area, where operating and assisting with print equipment is essential to maintain efficient production and timely completion of client orders. The Retail Team Lead is expected to communicate effectively to coordinate services across the store and support other associates as needed. Operational efficiency is a cornerstone of the role, involving precise merchandise processing, process improvements to reduce waste, compliance with loss prevention efforts, and contributions toward sales and profitability goals through customer satisfaction initiatives.
Client engagement is another critical component, requiring the Retail Team Lead to foster positive customer experiences, coach associates to elevate service quality, and participate in community outreach to build loyalty and retention. Continuous development of personal selling skills and product knowledge is encouraged, utilizing available sales and service tools to offer comprehensive solutions to customers.
This role is ideal for individuals with intermediate experience in sales or customer service, who possess strong communication skills, an engaging personality, and the ability to adapt positively within a dynamic retail environment. Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems are also necessary, along with a keen attention to detail and an interest in print services. Office Depot offers competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package including a 401(k) plan, and ample opportunities for career advancement in a supportive, growth-oriented workplace. The company is committed to equal employment opportunities and values diversity and inclusion across its workforce.
