PetSmart is a leading specialty pet retailer dedicated to providing quality products, services, and solutions for the lifetime needs of pets. As a company, PetSmart places a strong emphasis on fostering a values-driven, inclusive culture that encourages growth, teamwork, and dedication among its 50,000 associates. With a mission centered around doing Anything for Pets, the company consistently works to create meaningful moments that enrich the lives of pets and pet parents alike. PetSmart's commitment to associates is evident in its career development opportunities, associate discounts, tuition assistance, and comprehensive benefits such as health and wellness programs and 401k plans with company match. The company’s retail stores are trusted places where pet owners can find helpful advice and quality pet care offerings in a friendly and safe environment.

The Retail Operations Manager role, known as a Process Leader at PetSmart, is a vital position responsible for spearheading operational excellence and driving the performance of retail stores while maintaining the company’s vision, mission, and core values. This full-time hourly position, offering a pay range between $17.18 to $29.50 per hour, requires a dynamic leader who can oversee a wide array of operational elements including merchandising, inventory, pet care, store opening and closing, and associate leadership. The Retail Operations Manager is accountable for achieving financial targets such as sales growth and expense management while ensuring consistent adherence to policies, safety standards, and exceptional store presentation.

This leader plays a critical role in managing the associate experience by recruiting, coaching, and mentoring team members, facilitating productivity and engagement, and resolving complaints effectively. Operational responsibilities include oversight of pet health and habitats, inventory accuracy through processes like receiving, stocking, and product rotation, vendor relations, and executing merchandising strategies. The manager is also responsible for maintaining store compliance, overseeing Buy Online Pick-up and Ship from Store programs, and responding swiftly to any health or safety issues involving pets or customers.

Given its physically demanding nature, the role requires a candidate who can stand, walk, climb ladders, and manage occasional heavy lifting in environments that include wet areas and exposure to live animals. This position demands strong organizational and communication skills, resilience under pressure, and flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays. By joining PetSmart as a Retail Operations Manager, individuals become part of a team that values diversity, embraces unique perspectives, and is driven by a shared passion for pets and exceptional retail service. Candidates will have the opportunity to grow their careers in a supportive environment that rewards initiative, collaboration, and continuous improvement, helping to shape the future of pet care retail.
