Job Description
Staples is a leading office retail company renowned for providing a comprehensive range of office supplies, technology products, and services designed to cater to the diverse needs of business customers and individual consumers alike. With a substantial presence in numerous locations, Staples prides itself on delivering excellent customer experiences, a dynamic workplace culture, and strong community involvement. As a major player in the retail sector, Staples emphasizes innovation, sustainability, and employee development to maintain its position at the forefront of the industry. This includes continuously evolving to meet market demands and leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency and customer engagement.
We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated Merchandising & Inventory Supervisors to join our team. This full-time position offers a stable work schedule, generous paid time off, weekly pay, and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance. Compensation for this role is competitive and based on qualifications and experience, with additional perks such as a 401(k) plan with company match, associate discounts on merchandise and services, and access to exclusive offers at various retailers and restaurants. This role is vital to the seamless functioning and overall success of our store locations, ensuring high merchandising standards and efficient inventory management.
As a Merchandising & Inventory Supervisor, you will lead and support store operations through your strong focus on sales floor merchandising, signage standards, inventory control, back-room operations, and customer service excellence. Your role is critical in creating a market-leading shopping environment that not only attracts customers but also retains them through outstanding service and well-organized product offerings. Supervisors will collaborate closely with team members, providing coaching and guidance to foster a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere that aligns with Staples’ fun, team-oriented retail culture. This leadership position requires a hands-on approach to executing merchandising plans, managing stock levels, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of inventory processes such as returns, restocking, and cross-channel logistics.
In addition to daily operational tasks, Merchandising & Inventory Supervisors are entrusted with maintaining store standards and ensuring that the sales floor consistently reflects Staples’ brand image and customer service philosophy. You will take the lead in activities such as product receiving, truck unloading, and seasonal promotional changeovers, which are essential for keeping the store fresh and aligned with promotional schedules. The position also involves performing front-end duties as needed, including cashiering, processing returns, and managing online orders, thereby playing a key role in customer interactions and satisfaction.
This role demands a flexible and proactive mindset, capable of multitasking and adapting to the fluid retail environment. Successful candidates must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills to engage with customers effectively, understand their needs, and provide tailor-made solutions that enhance their shopping experience. Leadership responsibilities further include acting as "Manager on Duty" when scheduled, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for both customers and team members.
Staples values integrity and honesty, requiring supervisors to handle confidential information with discretion while managing store conflicts professionally and cooperatively. Physical requirements include the ability to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and stand or walk for extended periods, emphasizing the role’s active and hands-on nature. While key holder experience in retail is preferred, it is not mandatory. Staples is committed to equal employment opportunities; however, please note that this position does not sponsor work visas.
