The Sodexo Campus Segment is currently seeking an experienced Retail Manager 3 to lead operations at Traditions, a full-service restaurant situated in the vibrant retail student center at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ. This is a year-round, high-profile role that supports a premier university dining program. Traditions operates seven days a week, providing lunch and dinner services on weekdays and brunch on weekends. The role offers an opportunity to manage a high-volume operation within a prestigious academic environment.

As the Retail Manager 3, the successful candidate will bring strong leadership experience in restaurant management, with an emphasis on union management and collaboration. Creativity and innovation are key traits for this role, as it involves driving menu development and culinary trends tailored specifically for the student community. The position also requires maintaining exceptional guest experiences and upholding Sodexo’s high standards in food quality, hospitality, and service consistency.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum education requirement - Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum management experience - 2 years
  • Minimum functional experience – 1 year of work experience in concessions, retail sales, or store operations

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in concessions, retail sales, or store operations
  • Proven restaurant management experience, ideally in a high-volume or campus environment
  • Strong union management experience and ability to lead in a collaborative, structured environment
  • Creativity and innovation in menu development and culinary trends
  • Ability to deliver top-tier customer service and drive continuous improvement
  • Solid understanding of financial controls, including cash handling and inventory management
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience supervising diverse frontline teams
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • Passion for delivering exceptional student dining experiences

Job Duties

  • Lead daily restaurant operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, hospitality, and service consistency
  • Oversee menu creation, culinary innovation, and trend-forward offerings tailored to the student community
  • Manage cash-handling protocols and ensure compliance with Sodexo financial controls
  • Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high satisfaction with food and service delivery
  • Support and develop a diverse team including hourly staff, supervisors, and fellow managers
  • Ensure the unit has the proper equipment, supplies, and resources to operate efficiently
  • Uphold Sodexo service standards and operational excellence across all branded and non-branded retail concepts
