Job Description

Sodexo's Campus Segment is a leading provider of food services and facilities management, committed to creating better everyday experiences at universities across the United States. At the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT, Sodexo supports a vibrant and engaged campus community by delivering exceptional dining experiences tailored to the diverse needs of students, faculty, and staff. Known for its collaborative and team-based culture, Sodexo embraces diversity and inclusion, fostering a workspace where individuals are valued and respected. The company prioritizes operational excellence, quality service, and continuous improvement in all aspects of its retail dining programs.

The Retail Manager 3 position at the University of Vermont offers a dynamic leadership role overseeing the largest and highest-volume retail dining outlets on campus. This role involves managing multiple branded concepts and ensuring strict adherence to Sodexo and brand standards. As a visible and influential campus leader, the Retail Manager 3 will be responsible for driving operational excellence through hands-on and strategic management. Key responsibilities include leading day-to-day operations, maintaining high food quality and guest service standards, and managing labor, inventory, and food costs to meet financial objectives.

In addition to operational duties, the Retail Manager 3 plays a critical role in team development—recruiting, training, scheduling, and mentoring a diverse hourly workforce. This managerial role requires close collaboration with University Housing and Dining Services (UHDS) leadership, campus stakeholders, and Sodexo support teams to elevate the retail dining programs in line with student and community needs. The role also involves partnering on engagement initiatives, promotions, and programming to create an inviting and responsive retail environment.

Further, the Retail Manager 3 supports merchandising efforts, menu innovation, and maintains strong partnerships with brand representatives to ensure consistency and relevance across all retail locations. Coordination with residential dining and catering teams is essential to provide a seamless dining experience campus-wide. The role demands a balance between operational hands-on work and administrative and strategic responsibilities, ensuring continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

This position offers a fair and equitable compensation package, with salary determined based on education level, experience, skills, and training. Sodexo provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision care, wellness programs, a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, paid time off, company holidays, and career growth opportunities including tuition reimbursement. The company supports new hires with detailed onboarding information to help them succeed and thrive in their roles.

In summary, the Retail Manager 3 role at the University of Vermont is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for experienced leaders in retail dining, foodservice, or hospitality. Candidates will find a supportive environment that values leadership, innovation, and commitment to service excellence. If you have progressive leadership experience, a proven track record managing high-volume retail concepts, and a passion for fostering team development and guest satisfaction, this role offers a chance to make a significant impact on a vibrant university community.
