The role of Retail Manager 2-Food at Sodexo’s East Pavilion Caf, one of six retail dining locations on the hospital campus, is a pivotal leadership position offering a unique opportunity to manage a vibrant food service operation in a healthcare setting. The Retail Manager will oversee a diverse menu that includes a salad bar, Tex-Mex station, global cuisine, pizza, deli selections, and comfort foods, serving a dynamic daily audience of patients, visitors, and staff. This position demands a hands-on leader who thrives under pressure and prioritizes outstanding customer service and team development.

The Retail Manager 2-Food will be responsible for coaching and developing a team of approximately 20 frontline employees, ensuring high performance and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. This role involves direct oversight of all operational facets including quality control, food safety compliance according to HACCP guidelines, inventory management, cash handling, and labor scheduling. Partnering with culinary and hospital leadership, the Retail Manager will drive continuous improvements to service delivery and operational efficiencies.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of management experience
  • Prior retail food service management experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience leading frontline teams in high-volume food service environments
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards
  • Experience with scheduling, labor management, inventory control, and retail financial performance
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

Job Duties

  • Oversee daily retail food service operations within the East Pavilion Caf
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop a team of approximately 20 frontline employees
  • Ensure exceptional customer service for patients, visitors, and hospital staff
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, merchandising, and retail standards
  • Support scheduling, labor management, and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with Sodexo standards, HACCP guidelines, food safety regulations, and sanitation requirements
  • Manage inventory, ordering, cash handling, and financial controls
  • Partner with culinary, operations, and hospital leadership teams to drive continuous improvement
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and service excellence
