Job Description
The hiring establishment is a licensed retail cannabis dispensary operating under stringent local, state, and federal regulations to provide safe and compliant access to cannabis products. As a specialized retail company, the dispensary focuses on delivering exceptional customer service and product knowledge in a legal cannabis market. The establishment holds all necessary permits, including Marijuana Establishment Agent Cards and required jurisdictional work cards, which reflect a strong commitment to industry compliance and community engagement. With a dedicated management team, the company prioritizes operational efficiency, accuracy in inventory management, and strict adherence to security and safety protocols. The role offered is a Retail Host position, which is a non-exempt, hourly employment opportunity reporting directly to the General Manager. This position is vital to supporting the day-to-day retail operations and the overall success of the company’s goals and objectives.
The Retail Host plays an essential role in the customer experience by assisting customers in making informed purchasing decisions. This is achieved through a thorough understanding of extensive retail product knowledge, specifically cannabis products, and the ability to provide accurate, friendly, and timely support. The individual in this role will actively participate in retail sales, use and maintain the Point of Sale (POS) system correctly, manage cash handling procedures including discounts and coupon applications, and help with phone inquiries and customer greetings. Furthermore, the Retail Host is responsible for precise inventory tracking and data entry, supporting the inventory intake process, and facilitating curbside pickup orders with strict adherence to identity verification and transaction accuracy.
In addition, the Retail Host is expected to uphold medical patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and ensure compliance with all safety, security, and procedural standards detailed in the company’s training programs and SOPs. The role requires effective communication with the management team and coworkers to report any workplace or customer issues promptly and contribute to a well-organized, clean, and efficient sales floor and inventory environment.
This position is suited for someone who is adaptable, able to work in various department segments as needed, and comfortable functioning in a fast-paced, evolving industry. The Retail Host must be proficient with Windows-based software, POS applications, and able to handle multiple forms of communication effectively. Attention to detail, professionalism, adherence to regulations, and independent problem-solving skills are essential. The company values employees who demonstrate public relations skills, understand and comply with complex regulatory requirements, and represent the company positively in all interactions with customers and regulatory officials.
Applicants must meet minimum age requirements, successfully pass background checks, and maintain compliance with all legal mandates necessary to work in the cannabis industry. Previous customer service experience is preferred but not mandatory, with opportunities for growth and internal advancement within the company. The role demands physical capability, including lifting up to 40 pounds, and tolerance to the unique environment of a cannabis retail setting. Overall, this position offers a rewarding career opportunity within a highly regulated but rapidly growing industry where employees play a critical role in operational success and customer satisfaction.
