The position of Retail Host plays a critical role in supporting the general operation of the retail facility by delivering outstanding customer service while managing inventory and related data entry designed to maximize operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the General Manager and working closely with the Dispensary Management Team, the Retail Host ensures smooth retail sales operations by assisting customers in making informed purchasing decisions and processing transactions accurately and efficiently. This non-exempt role requires an individual who is knowledgeable about cannabis products and whose work aligns with the company's mission, vision, and goals.

Key responsibilities include managing the Point of Sale system through accurate cash handling, discount and coupon application, verifying and fulfilling curbside pickup orders, and maintaining organization and cleanliness throughout the retail space. Additionally, the Retail Host supports the intake process for cannabis inventory following established quality assurance protocols. The role demands attention to detail and a commitment to safety and security compliance procedures to uphold a secure sales environment.

The ideal candidate will be a minimum of 21 years old, hold a Marijuana Establishment Agent Card along with jurisdictional work cards as required by law, and have passed all necessary background checks. Flexibility in work scheduling is essential, including the ability to cover vacant shifts or respond to emergencies. Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and proficiency with Windows-based software and point of sale applications are also important attributes for success in this role.

Job Requirements

  • must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • must pass all required background checks
  • must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry

  • ability to understand and complete all given directives in a timely manner
  • ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
  • basic understanding of compliance software and job specific information technology
  • adherence to all industry standards set forth by local, state, and federal regulations
  • capacity to work autonomously to achieve daily directives and department goals
  • flexible work schedule including covering vacant shifts and emergency situations
  • represent the company professionally in all communications
  • observe and maintain all safety procedures and protocols
  • able to lift, carry, and balance up to 40 pounds
  • tolerate exposure to marijuana odors and product

Job Qualifications

  • previous customer service experience preferred
  • equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered including internal experience
  • proficient in Windows-based software and point of sale applications
  • excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • ability to interpret, understand, and comply with complex statutes, ordinances, regulations, standards, and laws
  • understanding of applicable federal, state, and local cannabis industry laws and regulations
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, governmental agencies, community members, and the public
  • ability to use standard office equipment and software including word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications, and electronic mail

Job Duties

  • help retail customers in accordance with the company’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives
  • provide extensive retail product knowledge to assist customers in making educated purchasing decisions
  • complete any work assigned during scheduled shifts
  • accurately use and maintain the Point of Sale (POS) system
  • follow proper cash handling procedures and discount/coupon applications
  • answer the phone and greet customers with a pleasant disposition
  • maintain accurate inventory counts and product sales data
  • assist in cannabis product inventory intake according to quality assurance and intake protocols
  • prepare, package, and deliver curbside pickup orders accurately
  • verify identity of curbside pickup customers before transaction
  • ensure correct money remittance prior to purchase delivery
  • complete curbside pickup transactions upon return to retail sales facility
  • maintain medical patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations
  • comprehend and apply security and safety compliance procedures and protocols
  • maintain store organization, cleanliness, and general upkeep
  • maintain open communication with management and coworkers
  • report employee issues and customer concerns to supervisory staff
  • provide support to management team to ensure successful retail operations including daily activities, maintenance, and complaint resolution
  • ensure customer satisfaction following company sales and service policies
  • perform other duties as assigned
