The Facilities Associate position at Ocean State Job Lot is a vital role responsible for ensuring that each store maintains a clean, safe, and fully functional environment. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to both interior and exterior store maintenance to uphold the company's high standards. Facilities Associates play a crucial part in creating a welcoming atmosphere for both associates and customers, enhancing the overall shopping experience. Their duties include regular cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping, and window cleaning, as well as managing waste disposal and reporting any hazards promptly to store leadership. Depending on store location and lease agreements, responsibilities may extend to exterior upkeep, including snow and debris removal.

In addition to maintenance duties, Facilities Associates support merchandising efforts by stocking shelves, maintaining product displays, and assisting with pricing tasks. They may also provide customer service and operate the cash register when necessary. Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Prior facilities experience
Ability to lift 35 pounds regularly
Basic math and reading skills
Good communication skills
Ability to work in a physical environment involving standing, moving, and using hand tools

Flexibility to perform multiple tasks

Job Qualifications

Prior facilities experience is required
Experience working in a retail environment or in customer service is preferred
Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and good verbal and written communication skills are preferred

Job Duties

Identify and correct maintenance and safety issues inside and outside the store
Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and generally maintain floors, steps and other similar surfaces
Empty waste containers and pick up and dispose of interior trash, litter, and other similar debris
Check and maintain adequate bathroom, breakroom and other supplies needed in the normal use of the building
Maintain approaches to buildings by keeping them clear of debris, snow, and other obstructions
Ensure all work areas, storage areas, and materials are safe, clean, and orderly, and that all cleaning supplies are clearly labeled and stored
Ensure all OSJL customers receive exceptional service both on the sales floor and at the point of sale
Assist with merchandising tasks, including, but not limited to, stocking, displays, and pricing, and operate a cash register as needed
Perform all duties with a focus on safeguarding Company property
Communicate any issues to store leadership in a timely manner
