We are currently seeking a District Retail Manager to oversee and lead multiple retail store locations for Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay. This full-time position, with a salary range between $120,000 and $130,000 annually plus eligibility for a monthly performance-based bonus after training, presents a leadership opportunity responsible for driving operational excellence and financial success across 10-14 stores. The District Retail Manager will be central to executing comprehensive retail strategies, managing daily operations, financial oversight, and human resources management. The role demands a strategic thinker who can cultivate motivated, high-performing teams through effective leadership and coaching while ensuring that Goodwill brand standards and customer service excellence are maintained consistently.

Key responsibilities include defining goals with store management teams, monitoring production metrics, managing inventory controls, overseeing compliance with safety and asset protection policies, and partnering with various departments such as Human Resources, Finance, and Asset Protection to facilitate business objectives. Additionally, the role requires frequent store visits to engage directly with store teams and customers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth. The District Retail Manager will play a vital role in talent management including interviewing, onboarding, performance management, and development of store leadership. They will also represent Goodwill within the community as an ambassador, promoting the organization’s mission and values. This role requires strong analytical skills to manage and review performance metrics, P&L statements, and budget processes, ensuring the district meets or exceeds its fiscal goals estimated at approximately $30 million in annual revenue. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • minimum three years experience in multi-store retail management
  • proven track record in retail store chain development and growth
  • supervisory experience with managing and developing teams
  • proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
  • valid drivers' license and ability to travel regularly
  • strong communication and leadership skills
  • ability to pass background checks
  • English language proficiency
  • ability to maintain consistent and reliable in-person attendance

Job Qualifications

  • Three years work experience in retail management within a multiple store organization
  • experience in retail buying preferably in thrift or similar retail environment
  • three years experience with retail inventory POS computer system preferred
  • five years supervisory experience and managing business operations preferred
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • valid drivers' license and clean motor vehicle record
  • ability to speak and read English proficiently
  • ability to pass a background check

Job Duties

  • Executes retail operations plan to achieve growth in profit, revenue, and production for multiple store locations
  • spends time in stores with retail teams and customers to identify business issues and align strategies
  • coordinates with store managers to define goals, develop innovative product generation, and monitor product levels
  • works with senior retail leadership to maintain competitive retail strategies and market knowledge
  • partners with retail leadership to facilitate annual budget process
  • ensures store locations deliver excellent customer service and maintain cleanliness and brand standards
  • builds and retains high performing teams through effective leadership, training, and development
  • monitors compliance with safety, security, and health policies
  • manages staffing, compensation, performance reviews, and development of store managers
  • oversees financial management including P&L, spending, and approvals
  • coordinates donation and inventory allocation across stores
  • conducts store audits and performance monitoring
  • handles escalated customer care and facilities issues
  • fosters community partnerships and serves as Goodwill ambassador
  • leads monthly store manager meetings and supports hiring and onboarding
  • performs administrative duties including route planning and reporting
  • ensures presence in the field during store visits and participates in closing and weekend shifts
  • supports company culture change initiatives
  • performs additional duties as assigned
