The Retail Customer Service Cashier at Michaels plays a crucial role in enhancing the shopping experience by providing exceptional customer care and ensuring smooth store operations. This position is responsible for assisting customers in finding products that meet their needs, managing efficient payment procedures, and maintaining the store's environment to uphold the company’s Brand Promises. The role involves a variety of tasks including unloading merchandise, organizing inventory, and supporting cross-channel sales initiatives such as Order Online Retrieve in Store (ORS) and Send From Store (SFS). Employees in this position also help promote the company’s Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, contributing to customer retention and satisfaction.
Duties extend beyond customer interaction to include store maintenance responsibilities such as merchandising recovery, stock optimization, and loss prevention. Cashiers are expected to follow Standard Operating Procedures and corporate initiatives, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards while fostering a positive and inclusive environment. The job requires physical stamina due to the demands of standing for extended periods, lifting, and arranging heavy items, as well as flexibility to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and early mornings. Job Requirements
- Capability to endure standing for extended amounts of time

- regularly executing actions such as bending over lifting items carrying loads reaching for objects and stretching muscles
- transporting substantial crates and reaching high shelving through the use of a ladder or equivalent machinery

Job Duties
- Assist individuals in selecting goods finding items in-store and offering resolutions to their issues
- facilitate an efficient and welcoming payment process
- follow cash handling guidelines accurately
- entice customers with the benefits of the rewards program and private label credit cards while assisting in their registration
- inform clients about the role and benefits of implementing a voice of customer (voc) survey
- help optimize cross-channel operations including order online retrieve in store (ors) and send from store (sfs) systems
- be involved in the unloading of trucks organizing shelves and executing planograms
- required to manage merchandise recovery and upkeep including overseeing merchandise returns and repositioning as well as implementing general store recovery procedures to uphold a well-merchandised and fully stocked store environment
- carry out store in stock optimization (siso) activities and manage assigned duties effectively
- aid for downsizing and protection strategies
- abide by standard operating procedures and corporate initiatives to ensure adherence to laws and regulations
- implement company standards and guidelines
