Job Description
The Michaels Companies Inc. is the leading destination for crafting and celebration across North America, operating over 1,300 stores in 49 states and Canada, as well as online at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has established itself as the premier retail chain for all things creative, providing everything from arts and crafts supplies to custom framing and specialty merchandise. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing products, reinforcing its commitment to leadership in the creative retail space. Michaels prioritizes fostering creativity and celebration, building a work environment that supports and encourages its team members to grow and thrive. The company is well known for its focus on inclusion, offering reasonable accommodations to ensure every individual can fully participate in their work and benefit from employment opportunities. They also emphasize compliance with all federal, state, and local legal requirements to maintain a fair and equitable workplace.
This role is based at the Michaels store in Greensboro, NC, where the successful candidate will work as a Store Team Member dedicated to delivering the highest level of customer service and maintaining operational excellence. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide friendly assistance to customers, helping them find products, answering questions, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. Duties extend to completing fast, efficient checkouts that adhere to cash handling standards alongside engaging with customers about the benefits of the Michaels Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards. The Store Team Member will also participate in various operational tasks such as unloading trucks, stocking shelves, maintaining store recovery standards, and supporting omnichannel processes including Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
The position demands physical stamina given the requirements to stand for long periods of time, regularly lift and carry merchandise, climb ladders, and perform bending and reaching motions. The work environment includes both climate-controlled customer areas and stock rooms that may not be temperature regulated, as well as outdoor duties like retrieving shopping carts. Additionally, some tasks require safety awareness since operations include use of equipment in the custom framing area such as glass cutters and heat presses.
Michaels is committed to creating a workplace that embodies respect, positivity, and collaboration. Team members are expected to serve as role models by upholding the company’s values and projecting a positive image, even during challenging situations. Cross training in custom framing sales and production is available, adding depth to the learning opportunities within the role. The position requires flexibility to work shifts including nights, weekends, and early mornings.
Michaels values its employees’ wellbeing and offers an array of comprehensive benefits for both full-time and part-time team members. These include health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision care, paid time off to ensure personal rejuvenation, tuition assistance programs supporting educational growth, and generous employee discounts to encourage creative endeavors outside the workplace. The company firmly supports equal opportunity and inclusion, ensuring that every individual can thrive in a safe and supportive environment. The minimum age requirement for team members in this role is 16 years old, in compliance with legal standards.
Joining Michaels means becoming part of a vibrant team dedicated to fueling creativity and celebration while advancing your own professional skills in a customer-focused retail environment. This position provides a unique chance to contribute to one of North America’s largest and most trusted retail brands and develop a rewarding retail career in Greensboro, NC.
