Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores across 49 states in the US and Canada, alongside a robust online presence through Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. The company is a household name for all things creative, offering an extensive range of art supplies, framing products, crafting materials, and seasonal décor. As part of its broader portfolio, Michaels also owns Artistree, a manufacturer specializing in custom and specialty framing merchandise. Michaels stands out not just for its comprehensive product offerings but also for its commitment to community engagement, employee wellbeing, and inclusive corporate values. Their vision emphasizes fostering creativity and providing customers with unparalleled service and quality. This well-established retail environment prioritizes a customer-centric approach that integrates conventional retailing with modern omni-channel solutions.

The role of Store Associate at Michaels in Providence, North Carolina, is vital to upholding the company’s brand promises and delivering a superior shopping experience. This position requires individuals who are passionate about customer service and can efficiently assist customers in shopping and locating products within the store. The Store Associate executes all customer transactions promptly with a friendly demeanor, ensuring a fast and enjoyable checkout experience. Beyond customer interaction, the role encompasses essential operational duties such as unloading merchandise trucks, stocking shelves, maintaining recovery standards for merchandise, and participating in the planogram and store in-stock optimization processes. A unique aspect of this role involves cross-training in Custom Framing sales and production, enhancing the Associate’s versatility within the store.

Working as a Store Associate at Michaels involves a dynamic retail environment that combines physical activity with interpersonal engagement. Associates will frequently lift, carry, bend, and stretch as part of their daily tasks, including handling heavy boxes and utilizing equipment like ladders for high shelving. The store environment is climate-controlled in customer-facing areas, though stockrooms and some outdoor duties exist. Work schedules incorporate nights, weekends, and early mornings, reflecting the store’s operating hours and the necessity of team flexibility. Michaels fosters a respectful and positive workplace culture, requiring associates to engage with others professionally and maintain a constructive attitude even in challenging situations. Importantly, safety procedures, company policies, and compliance requirements must be adhered to at all times.

This is a part-time or full-time position, with the company valuing individuals who bring enthusiasm for creativity, dedication to service, and a willingness to support all aspects of store operations. Team Members must be at least sixteen years of age and meet all federal, state, and local job requirements. Michaels is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities and promotes equal employment opportunities, embracing diversity and inclusion across its workforce.

Michaels offers robust benefits that support the health and wellbeing of their teams, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. These benefits apply to both full-time and part-time employees, highlighting Michaels’ commitment to investing in its workforce.
