The role of the Cashier at DICK'S Sporting Goods is essential in delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring a seamless shopping experience. As the first point of contact for customers, the Cashier greets and approaches customers proactively to understand their needs and assist them effectively. This position requires a thorough knowledge of the products and a commitment to maintaining high brand and execution standards. The Cashier is responsible for efficiently processing customer sales transactions and returns following established Front-End operations and procedures. Additionally, the role includes promoting company programs such as customer loyalty participation, warranty sales, and private label credit card enrollment to enhance customer engagement and increase company revenue.

Cashiers are also entrusted with upholding safety standards, loss prevention policies, and company confidentiality guidelines to protect both customers and the business. The role demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift items weighing between 15 to 35 pounds, as well as performing repetitive motions for extended periods. This position is an integral part of the store team, requiring a collaborative and action-oriented mindset to support various store operations as needed beyond the cashier station. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to perform physical duties including standing, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 35 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work extended periods standing or walking up to 4 hours
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions for up to 2 hours continuously
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Basic math and cash handling skills
  • Strong customer focus and teamwork mentality

Job Qualifications

  • Prior retail sales, cashier, or customer-focused experience preferred
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift up 15 to 35 lbs items occasionally
  • Ability to work extended periods of time standing or walking
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions for short periods of time
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service

Job Duties

  • Greet everyone and proactively approach customers to understand their needs and support their shopping experience
  • Process customer sales transactions and returns in accordance with established Front-End procedures
