The role of Assistant Store Manager is a pivotal position within Bath & Body Works retail leadership team. In this role, you will work directly alongside the Store Manager to lead the store's associate team, ensuring outstanding customer service, strong product knowledge, and effective operational execution. This role requires a passionate leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and values creating meaningful connections with customers. Serving as a brand ambassador at the store level, the Assistant Store Manager is instrumental in attracting, hiring, and developing talented associates, reinforcing clear performance standards, and motivating the team to exceed sales targets. Leadership responsibilities also include acting as manager on duty during scheduled times, managing store operations such as opening and closing procedures, banking deposits, and receiving shipments. The Assistant Store Manager supports implementing merchandising and floorset strategies that bring product stories to life and optimize business results. They are accountable for ensuring sales floor coverage aligns with payroll targets and maintaining a customer-first selling culture that mirrors Bath & Body Works' values.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED certificate, or relevant work experience
  • proven experience delivering sales, customer experience, and operational results in a fast-paced environment
  • prior experience in a manager role, preferably in a retail setting
  • ability to foster a customer-focused selling culture
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to provide in the moment coaching to associates
  • ability to de-escalate store and customer situations
  • must be available to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Attract, hire, develop, inspire, and retain top talent
  • set and reinforce clear and concise performance expectations, results goals, and accountability with all associates
  • responsible for leadership tasks as delegated by the store manager including acting as manager on duty, when scheduled, to address customer experience, vendor relationship, or maintenance issues
  • partner with the members of the sales leadership team to support action plans that improve results and ensure effective execution of operational activities
  • implement and sustain floorset direction to optimize the business and bring the product story to life
  • perform opening and closing routines including execution of bank deposits, receipt of shipment, and interpret/disseminate company directives
  • set the direction and goals for the day/shift when associates arrive for work
