Job Description

DXL Group is the largest specialty retailer of men’s Big + Tall apparel in the United States, offering an extensive selection of clothing designed to meet the unique fit and style needs of this underserved market. Known for delivering an exceptional customer experience, DXL operates free-standing stores that are not located inside malls, allowing for convenient shopping with earlier closing hours at 7pm. The company distinctly focuses on cultivating a strong company culture that promotes internal growth and development, ensuring long-term career opportunities for its employees. DXL’s commitment to diversity, equity, and belonging means it actively fosters an inclusive environment where employees and customers alike feel respected and valued regardless of their background or identity. The retailer is also dedicated to rewarding its entire team through quarterly bonuses linked to store performance, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and shared success.

The role of Retail Assistant Store Manager at DXL Group entails a dynamic blend of leadership, customer service excellence, and operational oversight. This position is designed for a self-driven, results-oriented individual who is passionate about coaching and developing teams within a high-energy retail environment. The Assistant Store Manager plays a crucial role in delivering an unmatched shopping experience by ensuring each customer feels valued and well-served. This is achieved by engaging with guests to understand their fit, preferences, and lifestyle, thereby building genuine relationships that encourage repeat business and customer loyalty. In addition to being a frontline brand ambassador, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in achieving sales targets while managing store operations such as inventory control, expense management, and risk mitigation.

A key aspect of the role is serving as a product expert, equipped with a deep knowledge of DXL’s wide range of apparel, including private labels, renowned name brands, and tailored clothing options. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for modeling superior selling techniques and sharing best practices with staff to elevate the store’s overall performance. Coaching and ongoing training are essential components, focusing not only on refining selling skills but also on cultivating behaviors and operational standards that reflect DXL’s customer-centric approach. DXL offers competitive compensation that includes a base hourly wage ranging from $14.90 to $19.60, supplemented by a commission percentage of individual sales and eligibility for quarterly bonuses based on overall store sales performance. The combined pay range is estimated between $17.50 and $27.65 per hour depending on experience, making this a rewarding opportunity for motivated retail leaders looking to grow within a supportive and thriving retail environment.
