Job Description

FedEx Office is a leading retail provider of shipping, printing, and business services, known for its commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences through innovative solutions and high-quality products. As part of the global FedEx network, FedEx Office combines industry expertise with cutting-edge technology to serve customers ranging from individuals to small businesses and large enterprises. With locations across the United States, the company prides itself on offering convenient, reliable services that help customers meet their business and personal needs efficiently and effectively. FedEx Office fosters a culture of quality, excellence, and inclusion, dedicated to supporting its team members with ongoing training and development opportunities, and maintaining a safe and supportive work environment for all.

The Store Assistant Manager role at FedEx Office is critical in leading a store's business unit to ensure a consistent and positive customer experience. This position involves assisting in the supervision and oversight of all team members and business operations, including monitoring and facilitating production and retail processes as well as pick-up, delivery, shipping, and quality control. The Store Assistant Manager serves as a key operational leader, stepping in to manage the store in the absence of the Store Manager. In addition to performing all functions typically handled by team members, the assistant manager actively contributes to creating a customer-focused environment across all store areas, including production, retail, self-service, and shipping.

This role requires a leadership approach that combines consultative behaviors and performance evaluation to foster friendly, polite, and expert service consistently. The assistant manager is responsible for resolving customer disputes and complaints promptly to maintain customer satisfaction, implementing processes that streamline customer flow to enhance service delivery, and training and developing team members by monitoring goals and providing constructive feedback. Additionally, this position plays an essential role in staffing by interviewing candidates and ensuring compliance with hiring policies while supporting the Store Manager in selecting new team members.

Effective communication and collaboration are paramount, as the assistant manager coordinates with Store Lead Consultants and production teams to meet deadlines and ensure quality standards. Oversight of shipping services is also under the purview of this position, alongside managing daily operational communications regarding sales performance, goals, and key metrics. Compliance with established FedEx Office policies and enforcement of workplace controls are essential responsibilities, contributing to an environment that promotes operational efficiency and integrity. Administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll management, training compliance, POS closeouts, bidding, ordering, and inventory control are also part of this role's broad scope, making it a dynamic and multifaceted leadership opportunity within the retail business.

FedEx Office values quality-driven management and continuous improvement, encouraging the Store Assistant Manager to identify process improvement areas and implement quality science concepts gleaned from ongoing training. This role supports broader company quality initiatives aimed at reducing costs and waste while optimizing profitability within their areas of responsibility. Qualified individuals are supported with reasonable accommodations throughout the application and employment process, reflecting FedEx Office’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The company is an Equal Opportunity Employer, welcoming applicants with diverse backgrounds and histories in accordance with applicable laws and providing a fair and supportive hiring process.
