The ideal candidate will have at least five years of progressive experience in retail management, merchandising, e-commerce, or customer-facing leadership roles, preferably within culturally rich environments such as museums, nonprofits, or specialty retail sectors.
This position demands strong leadership skills, effective project management capabilities, and the ability to coordinate cross-departmental workflows. The successful candidate will oversee retail associate training, scheduling, and performance management, fostering an inclusive and service-oriented culture. They will also manage inventory life cycles including receiving, pricing, merchandising, and annual audits. Experience with point-of-sale systems, inventory management software, e-commerce platforms like Shopify, and Microsoft Office 365 is essential. Additionally, the Retail and Merchandising Manager will serve as the Manager on Duty during scheduled shifts, providing operational leadership, addressing visitor concerns, and collaborating closely with departments such as Security, Facilities, and Events to maintain a safe and welcoming museum environment. This role requires availability to work Wednesdays through Sundays and support special events, weekends, and occasional evenings.
The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 annually, reflecting the significant responsibilities and expertise required. Join the Computer History Museum and contribute to a team that values passion for technology, history, and education, while delivering exceptional retail experiences to visitors through mission-aligned merchandise and innovative retail strategies.
