Job Description

The Edgewater is a distinguished historic hotel located in the heart of downtown Madison, Wisconsin. Known for its luxurious accommodations and stunning location on the water's edge of Lake Mendota, The Edgewater offers 202 elegantly appointed rooms alongside first-class amenities designed to deliver outstanding guest experiences. This iconic hotel is not only situated next to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, but is also within walking distance of the Capitol Square and the vibrant downtown area, making it a popular destination for tourists, business travelers, and locals alike. With three onsite restaurants, a full-service spa and salon, and spaces suitable for hosting special events, The Edgewater caters to a diverse clientele who appreciate refined hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere.

In Spring 2019, The Edgewater launched a new retail space called The Market, enhancing its offerings by providing guests and neighborhood residents with a curated selection of luxury gifts, clothing, home decor items, UW Badger gear, specialty coffee drinks, and gourmet food and beverage items. The Market is conveniently located just inside the main building at the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Langdon Street, serving as a convenient and delightful stop for anyone looking for unique gifts or a refreshing coffee break.

The role of Retail Agent at The Market is essential to the hotel's mission of delivering exceptional customer experiences. As a Retail Agent, you will be responsible for providing warm, engaging service to customers visiting the retail store, as well as preparing made-to-order specialty coffee and espresso drinks using professional café equipment. If you are passionate about retail, hospitality, and coffee culture, this position offers the perfect opportunity to join a dynamic team committed to excellence. This role includes flexible scheduling that accommodates days, nights, and weekends, supporting a healthy work-life balance. You will enjoy working in a beautifully outfitted environment with top industry products and supplies, ensuring that you have everything needed to succeed.

Full-time team members benefit from a comprehensive benefits package which includes Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, Paid Time Off, 401K matching contributions, and voluntary life insurance options. Additional perks include discounts at the hotel's three onsite restaurants, spa services and retail, discounted lodging at affiliated hotels, and convenient parking arrangements or bus passes depending on employment status. The Edgewater fosters a collaborative team culture that values support and mutual success, making it an ideal workplace for motivated individuals who thrive in a positive environment. This role is well-suited to candidates seeking to build skills in retail sales, merchandising, inventory management, and coffee beverage preparation while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of one of Madison's premier hospitality destinations.
