Job Description

About Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing solutions and strengthening communities. One of the key components in supporting Habitat's mission is the operation of Habitat ReStores, which are retail outlets that sell donated building materials, home goods, and furniture to the public at discounted prices. These stores not only help raise funds for Habitat's housing projects but also promote sustainability through the reuse and recycling of materials. The ReStore locations serve as community hubs where customers, donors, and volunteers come together to support a common cause.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore is looking for a passionate and dedicated ReStore Associate to join their team. This non-exempt, frontline position reports directly to the ReStore Manager and Assistant Manager. The ReStore Associate plays a vital role in the daily operations of the store, helping to create a welcoming and organized environment for shoppers and donors alike. The role focuses on customer service, donation processing, volunteer engagement, and ensuring smooth store operations. This position is essential in supporting the stores’ fundraising goals and promoting Habitat’s values of community, collaboration, and impact.

Role Description: The ReStore Associate assists with many essential tasks including greeting and assisting customers, answering inquiries via phone or email, and processing donations efficiently. They are responsible for receiving, pricing, and organizing donated items as well as maintaining the sales floor to provide an inviting shopping experience. The associate helps with register operations, supports the leadership of volunteers to cultivate a positive work environment, and ensures the store is safe and well-maintained.

Additionally, when functioning as a ReStore Donation Driver, the associate is responsible for driving safely to pick up donations, promoting donor engagement by sharing the impact of donations, and managing transportation logistics for donations. Other duties include participating in community fundraising events and helping with store upkeep, such as snow removal, to maintain accessibility and safety.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a community-oriented retail environment and wants to contribute to an organization devoted to affordable housing and sustainability. Employees in this role benefit from a supportive work culture and a comprehensive benefits package. The commitment to employee wellbeing is reflected in competitive benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, retirement savings plans with company matching, paid time off, and employee assistance programs. These benefits help ensure that associates are equipped to perform their roles effectively and are supported in their personal wellbeing.

As a key member of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore team, the ReStore Associate not only helps the store operate smoothly but also strengthens the overall mission of housing stability and community development. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference in the local community while gaining valuable retail and customer service experience in a nonprofit setting.
