Job Description

The Tap Indianapolis is a vibrant and dynamic restaurant group that stands out in the hospitality industry for its commitment to exceptional service, community, and craft beer culture. As an FHG original, The Tap has carved out a unique space as a downtown hangout and craft beer destination, offering an environment where guests can enjoy top-tier food, drinks, and atmosphere. Known for its team-centric culture, The Tap values creativity, collaboration, and genuine human connection, making it more than just a place to work but a thriving community where careers can flourish. The company places a strong emphasis on growth and advancement opportunities for its employees, fostering a workplace that is fast-paced, fun, and rewarding. Employees can expect competitive pay, flexible schedules tailored to promote work-life balance, and a supportive team environment that encourages professional development and innovation.

The role of Assistant Manager at The Tap Indianapolis is designed for individuals who are passionate about hospitality and eager to take on a leadership position in one of three key areas: Service, Kitchen, or Bar. This role offers a hands-on leadership experience where managing an Area of Responsibility (AOR) is crucial for personal and professional growth. The Assistant Manager will lead by example, inspiring and motivating their teams while ensuring seamless operations, top-quality guest experiences, and adherence to safety and compliance standards. The position demands a high level of energy, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to maintaining the lively and welcoming atmosphere The Tap is celebrated for.

The Assistant Manager’s duties encompass recruiting, training, and coaching team members, ensuring inventory and operations are managed efficiently, and delivering exceptional guest service. They will act as an ambassador for The Tap’s hospitality philosophy, making sure every guest feels valued and has a memorable visit. Key to this role is the ability to handle feedback constructively, maintain quality and service during peak times, and foster a positive work culture that celebrates wins and addresses challenges promptly. Leadership in action involves coordinating smooth communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams, managing labor costs relative to budgets, and continuously seeking opportunities for operational improvements.

Applicants for the Assistant Manager position should come prepared for the demanding yet fulfilling nature of hospitality work, including open availability for nights, weekends, and holidays. Certification in responsible alcohol service, state liquor license requirements, and ServSafe Manager certification or the ability to obtain certification are essential. The Tap also encourages participation in professional development meetings, recognizing that continual learning and growth are integral to success in this role.

Compensation for this position ranges from $50,000 to $57,000 annually, reflecting the company’s commitment to rewarding dedication and results. Perks include two weeks of paid time off, a monthly sales-based bonus, dining privileges across all FHG restaurants, a monthly parking stipend, comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, flexible scheduling options, and an incentive-based career development program that ties advancement to effort and achievement.

The Tap is more than a workplace; it’s a community fueled by passion for craft beer, hospitality excellence, and team collaboration. The Assistant Manager who joins this team will have the opportunity to shape the guest experience, lead a motivated crew, and contribute to the continued success of a beloved downtown hotspot. If you thrive in a high-energy environment and want to grow your career in a supportive, rewarding, and fun setting, The Tap Indianapolis is the perfect place to do just that. Apply today to bring your energy, ideas, and leadership to a team that values you and the craft you bring to the table.
