Job Description

Panera Bread is a renowned bakery-cafe chain known for its commitment to high-quality food, exceptional customer service, and creating warm, inviting spaces where communities can gather. With thousands of locations across the United States and Canada, Panera Bread has built a reputation for offering freshly baked goods, wholesome meals, and beverages in an environment that promotes comfort and connection. The company values hospitality, quality, and a team-oriented workplace culture, emphasizing the importance of delivering the "Panera Warmth" that guests have come to appreciate. Panera continually invests in its team members by providing competitive pay, extensive benefits, and opportunities for career advancement, making it a highly sought-after employer in the fast-casual dining segment.

As a Restaurant Team Member at Panera Bread, you will play a vital role in bringing the brand's mission to life by delivering warmth, care, and joy during every guest interaction. This position is classified as a part-time or full-time hourly role with competitive pay ranging from $15.92 to $19.00 per hour. Your job is more than just fulfilling duties; it is about creating meaningful connections with guests while ensuring operational excellence within the bakery-cafe. You will have the unique opportunity to work across different functional areas including production, service, cashiering, expo, drive-thru, barista duties, and guest experience champion roles. This variety means you will develop a multifaceted skill set and gain valuable experience in the food service industry.

The role requires a proactive approach to hospitality—greeting guests with enthusiasm, assembling fresh salads, soups, and sandwiches with precision, and maintaining a clean and safe environment that meets all food safety standards. Panera values team collaboration, adaptability, and a positive attitude to meet daily priorities and overcome challenges. Team Members are empowered not only to perform their assigned tasks but also to support their colleagues by helping with cleaning, stocking, and preparing for the next shift. Through these efforts, you will contribute directly to the bakery-cafe’s success and help foster a welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to return.

Panera Bread offers a comprehensive benefits package that supports the overall wellbeing of its employees. This includes medical, dental, vision, life, and pet insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan with company matching. Team members also enjoy perks such as free on-shift meals, unlimited fountain beverages, paid vacation and sick days for full-time staff, flexible scheduling options, tuition discounts, and career and leadership development programs. These benefits reflect Panera’s commitment to investing in its workforce and supporting their personal and professional growth.

To thrive in this role, candidates need to meet basic physical requirements, including the ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods. Strong communication skills and an ability to work effectively in busy, fast-paced environments are essential. You must be dependable, punctual, and flexible, ready to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Additionally, a foundational understanding of food safety is required, with the possibility of obtaining a Food Handler’s Card based on local regulations. Prior experience in food service is a plus but not mandatory—Panera Bread values passion, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to create moments of comfort, connection, and joy for every guest.
