The Restaurant Supervisor position is a key role within Hornblower Group’s hospitality operations. This role centers on ensuring the effective management and leadership of the front of house staff aboard dining cruises, with the goal of delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests. The supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing daily restaurant activities during cruise execution, ensuring that safety protocols are strictly followed while maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction. This role encompasses the supervision of service quality, training and development of staff, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, which are crucial to the overall guest experience.

The Restaurant Supervisor is also responsible for managing the administrative side of the restaurant operation, including keeping accurate records related to sales, inventory, and guest feedback. They are instrumental in resolving any guest complaints timely and professionally, ensuring each visitor’s experience is positive and memorable. Collaboration with management to strategize improvements in restaurant profitability and performance is also a significant part of this role. Additionally, this position involves participating in the recruitment and onboarding of new staff, thereby shaping the team that delivers the Hornblower dining service.

Job Requirements

  • minimum of two years guest service supervisory experience
  • strong leadership skills

  • certification in health and hygiene - SERV Safe
  • certification in alcohol service - TIPS
  • proficiency with POS systems
  • ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and customer service

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • associate degree in hospitality management or related field is a plus
  • minimum of two years guest service supervisory experience
  • strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • certification in health and hygiene - SERV Safe
  • certification in alcohol service - TIPS for managing onboard bars
  • excellent guest service skills and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences
  • proficiency in computer systems and software such as POS systems
  • ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of restaurant front of house staff to ensure efficient and effective operations
  • Ensure that all food and beverages are prepared and served in accordance with quality standards and customer preferences
  • Train and develop restaurant staff to provide excellent customer service and maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Maintain accurate records of restaurant transactions, including sales, inventory, and customer feedback
  • Resolve guest complaints and ensure that all guest issues are handled in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, as well as restaurant policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement strategies to improve restaurant performance and profitability
  • Assist with the recruitment and hiring of new restaurant staff as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
