The role of Restaurant Sous Chef / Assistant Kitchen Manager at Urban Plates is a key leadership position responsible for assisting the Executive Kitchen Manager in overseeing all culinary operations within the restaurant. This position is directly accountable for maintaining the high standards of food quality and kitchen execution that Urban Plates is known for. The Sous Chef plays an integral part in driving operational efficiency, ensuring consistency, and fostering a collaborative environment among the back-of-house team members, which includes prep cooks, line cooks, and junior chefs. Working in a state-of-the-art kitchen with advanced equipment such as Rational Ovens, blast chillers, and Kitchen Display Systems, the Sous Chef must be adept at managing inventory, controlling food costs, and leveraging technology platforms to optimize kitchen workflow and productivity. With a salary range of $65,000 to $72,000 per year, inclusive of bonuses, this full-time position offers a competitive compensation package aligned with performance and business growth. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Prior experience in a supervisory or assistant management role in a kitchen
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform kitchen tasks
