Job Description

Shake Shack is a globally recognized and fast-growing hospitality brand renowned for its commitment to quality food and exceptional customer service. Originating from a humble hot dog cart in New York City’s Madison Square Park, the company was founded by Danny Meyer, a celebrated restaurateur and author. Shake Shack’s unique journey started with its dedication to the community, as all initial proceeds from the cart were donated to park beautification efforts. This spirit of giving and community involvement remains at the core of Shake Shack's philosophy today. The company has since expanded significantly, boasting a worldwide presence and a passionate customer base known as "Shack Fans." Shake Shack blends its culinary excellence with a hospitable environment to create memorable dining experiences that have made the brand a staple in the fast-casual dining sector.

As a Shift Manager at Shake Shack, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the restaurant during your assigned shifts. This full-time position, located at the Menlo Park location in New Jersey, offers a competitive starting hourly rate between $20.00 and $24.00, with an additional $2.00 per hour for specific overnight shifts worked after midnight. The role comes with a comprehensive benefits package, reflecting the company's commitment to its employees’ well-being and professional growth.

Your primary responsibility will be to manage the flow of service and direct the team's activities during your shift to uphold the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, quality, and speed. You will oversee hourly team members, fostering a high-performing and motivated work environment to deliver exceptional customer experiences consistently. In addition to frontline management, you may also assist with operational support functions such as purchasing, receiving, and inventory management. This position requires you to participate in the hiring process, including applicant interviews, and contribute to employee relations efforts, reinforcing the inclusive and supportive atmosphere Shake Shack prides itself on.

Shake Shack’s culture is built around the belief that its people are the foundation of its success. Working at Shake Shack means joining the #ShackFam, where you will have access to hands-on mentorship, extensive training resources, and abundant opportunities for career advancement. The company fosters a fun, engaging, and inclusive workspace where diversity is celebrated, and every employee can thrive. This environment not only enhances individual career trajectories but also positively impacts business outcomes and community engagement.

Joining Shake Shack as a Shift Manager presents an excellent opportunity to be part of a renowned brand dedicated to standing for something good — from ethical business practices to community involvement and sustainability initiatives. If you are passionate about leadership in the hospitality space and eager to contribute to a brand that values integrity, inclusiveness, and quality, this role is designed for you. You will gain invaluable experience managing a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, driving operational excellence, and making a tangible difference in the guest experience and the company’s community footprint.
