Job Description

Shake Shack is a prominent hospitality brand that originated from a humble hot dog cart in New York City’s Madison Square Park. Founded by Danny Meyer, the Founder and CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group and author of the best-selling book Setting the Table, Shake Shack has grown into one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains known for its high-quality food and exceptional hospitality. Rooted in fine dining principles and deeply committed to community giving, Shake Shack stands out in the industry by combining delicious food with a strong sense of social responsibility. The brand’s mission to "Stand For Something Good" is reflected in its efforts to positively impact its neighborhoods, team members, and guests alike. Shake Shack prides itself on fostering a positive and inclusive work environment where employees are valued and supported. As a member of the #ShackFam, team members gain access to hands-on mentorship, continuous training, and ample opportunities for growth within the organization. Employees at Shake Shack enjoy a workplace culture that champions respect, collaboration, and a genuine commitment to doing the right thing. Employment at Shake Shack is equal opportunity, ensuring fair and considered treatment for all applicants regardless of race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, creed, age, disability, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, medical conditions, genetic information, marital status, or military and veteran status.

The Role: Shake Shack is looking to hire a dedicated Shift Lead who will play a crucial role in managing the flow of service during shifts to ensure the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, quality, and speed. This position demands a hands-on leader who can direct team members effectively while fostering a high-performing and motivated team environment. The Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing operations on their shift, assisting with key operational tasks such as purchasing, receiving, and inventory management when necessary. Additionally, this role involves participating in applicant interviews and supporting employee relations, making it vital for the Shift Lead to possess strong communication and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of restaurant leadership experience, specifically supervising a team, and hold food safety certification according to local jurisdiction requirements. Shake Shack offers competitive compensation for this role with a starting hourly rate between $18.00 and $22.00, reflective of experience and location. Beyond financial benefits, the organization extends numerous perks aimed at supporting employees’ wellbeing and future success. This includes weekly pay, performance bonuses based on achieving predetermined goals, comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance options, flexible spending accounts, supplemental life and short-term disability insurance, and a 401(k) plan with company match. Employees also receive paid time off, sick leave, parental leave, and access to various employee assistance and commuter benefit programs. Additional exclusive corporate discounts, meal discounts at Shake Shack, and opportunities for charitable involvement are all part of the inclusive employee experience alongside active employee resource groups and career development initiatives. Joining Shake Shack as a Shift Lead means becoming part of a vibrant, fast-growing team with a true commitment to quality, community, and excellent hospitality. Candidates looking to make a meaningful impact in a supportive setting where their efforts contribute to the company’s ongoing success will find this role both rewarding and challenging. If you possess strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and an eagerness to grow your career, Shake Shack encourages you to apply and be part of something good.
