The role available at Shake Shack is that of a Shift Leader, an essential position responsible for managing the flow of service and ensuring a smooth and efficient operation during shifts. As a Shift Leader, you will play a key role in driving the standards of safety, cleanliness, quality, and speed necessary for delivering a superior customer experience. This dynamic position involves directing and motivating team members, supporting high performance, and assisting with various operational tasks such as purchasing, receiving, and inventory control. Beyond operational duties, Shift Leaders contribute actively to the team culture by participating in recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations to build a cohesive and engaged workforce.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of restaurant leadership experience
  • Food safety certification according to local jurisdiction
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Commitment to company values and teamwork

Job Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of restaurant leadership experience supervising a team
  • Food safety certification according to local jurisdiction
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Leadership experience with motivating and developing team members

Job Duties

  • Manage the flow of service and direct the work of team members on a shift to ensure the highest levels of safety, cleanliness, quality, and speed
  • Help build and lead high performing team of hourly team members
  • Assist with operational support functions such as purchasing, receiving, and inventory
  • Participate in applicant interviews and assist with employee relations
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and local regulations
  • Maintain positive guest interactions and resolve service issues promptly
  • Promote a fun, inclusive, and safe workplace environment
