Job Description

Whataburger is a renowned American fast-food restaurant chain established in 1950, known for serving iconic burgers and a unique Southern-inspired menu. With a strong commitment to quality, customer service, and a vibrant work culture, Whataburger has grown to become a beloved brand across the Southern United States. The company prides itself on bold leadership, integrity, and providing opportunities for team members to grow both personally and professionally. At Whataburger, every employee is considered part of the Whataburger family, where collaboration, fun, and winning as one team are essential values. Whataburger invests heavily in its people, offering career development programs, education support, and a clear path to leadership positions, including the potential for lucrative earnings as Operating Partners.

The Shift Leader role at Whataburger is pivotal to the restaurant’s operational excellence and team success. As a Shift Leader, you act as the motivational spark who keeps the restaurant running efficiently throughout each shift, ensuring top-notch quality, service, and cleanliness standards. This role requires a proactive and energetic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about coaching and developing team members, referred to as Family Members, to reach their full potential. You will be responsible for motivating the team, maintaining compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, and helping to meet important goals like food cost management, labor cost control, and sales performance.

The job offers competitive weekly pay, flexible scheduling across day, night, evening, and overnight shifts, and an impressive range of benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, paid time off, and 401(k) matching. Additional perks include scholarship opportunities through the Whataburger Family Foundation, hardship grant assistance, discounted meals, wireless service discounts, computer and software discounts, fitness and gym discounts, and recognition programs. This role serves as a stepping stone for those interested in advancing their careers within Whataburger, providing training, leadership development, and the chance to grow within a supportive and dynamic environment.

Working as a Shift Leader also includes responsibilities beyond day-to-day restaurant management. You’ll partner closely with Restaurant Managers to sharpen your leadership skills, enhance shift management capabilities, and strengthen operational foundations. The role is often home-base focused but may require occasional support at neighboring locations or involvement in broader market leadership meetings and training sessions. Whataburger promotes an inclusive work environment, offering equal employment opportunities in compliance with federal law and emphasizing the importance of diversity across its workforce.

In summary, Whataburger offers an exciting opportunity for individuals seeking a leadership position in a fast-paced, team-oriented restaurant setting with comprehensive benefits, career growth prospects, and a culture that values integrity, teamwork, and bold leadership. If you are motivated to lead, coach, and inspire a team while contributing to a beloved brand, the Shift Leader role at Whataburger is an ideal fit where you can truly make a difference and move forward boldly.
