Job Description

Whataburger is a beloved American fast-food restaurant chain known for its distinctive burgers and exceptional customer service. Founded in 1950, Whataburger has grown into a trusted and recognized brand, cherished for its commitment to quality ingredients, a welcoming atmosphere, and fostering employee growth. The company prides itself on creating an environment where bold leadership is encouraged, potential is nurtured, and every team member plays a critical role in delivering a memorable dining experience for customers. Whataburger offers a comprehensive employment experience, including competitive pay, flexible schedules, and robust benefits, making it an attractive workplace for individuals seeking both career development and community involvement.

The Shift Leader role at Whataburger is fundamental to the restaurant's success. As a Shift Leader, you are the driving force behind maintaining operational excellence during your shift. This includes ensuring quality, service, and cleanliness standards are consistently met. You’ll play a pivotal role in coaching and motivating Family Members — Whataburger’s term for employees — helping new hires quickly learn the ropes and seasoned team members further sharpen their skills. Your leadership will foster a collaborative and positive work environment where teamwork, communication, and accountability thrive. The role requires hands-on management to meet goals related to food cost, labor cost, sales performance, and inventory processes, all while upholding strict food safety and sanitation standards.

Working closely with your Restaurant Manager team, you will enhance your leadership skills, build your capabilities in shift management, and strengthen your operational foundation. The role is not only about managing day-to-day activities but also about seizing opportunities for personal and professional growth. Whataburger supports its employees with a variety of benefits including competitive weekly pay, paid time off, 401(k) matching, and comprehensive health benefits. Additional perks include career development pathways with the potential to reach six-figure income as an Operating Partner, educational scholarships and grants, free English-language learning, and tuition-reduced college courses. Discounts on meals, wireless services, technology, and fitness memberships add extra value to the employment package.

This position requires a strong commitment to the brand’s values of integrity, teamwork, and service with heart. Whataburger offers a home restaurant setting where you spend most of your time leading your team and managing daily operations, although you might occasionally support other locations or participate in market-wide leadership activities. The company is dedicated to equal employment opportunity, making Whataburger a welcoming place for individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences. If you’re ready to take the next bold step in your leadership journey, the Shift Leader role at Whataburger offers a supportive environment full of opportunities to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact.
