Job Description

Whataburger is a beloved American fast-food restaurant chain known for its freshly made burgers and lasting commitment to quality, community, and leadership development. Established in 1950, Whataburger has grown to become a staple in the fast-food industry, recognized for its dedication to serving not just delicious food but also fostering a supportive and dynamic work environment. This company is more than just a restaurant; it is a place where careers take shape and individuals achieve their potential. With a focus on bold leadership, team collaboration, and continuous growth, Whataburger offers an inviting culture grounded in integrity and mutual respect. Offering various benefits including competitive pay, flexible schedules, comprehensive health coverage, career advancement opportunities, and education support programs, Whataburger supports its employees at every step of their journey.

The role of Shift Leader at Whataburger is a pivotal position that acts as the driving force behind the smooth operation of restaurant shifts. This leadership role requires someone who is energetic, resourceful, and motivated by the challenge of guiding a team through busy service hours. As a Shift Leader, you are responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, service, and cleanliness, while nurturing the development of your team members—referred to as Family Members—to ensure they excel in their roles. This position involves direct collaboration with the Restaurant Manager to sharpen leadership skills and operational practices, providing a strong foundation in restaurant management.

Your daily responsibilities will involve coaching new and seasoned team members alike, helping them improve their skills and confidence, managing costs relating to food and labor, and upholding safety and sanitation compliance. You will foster a positive work culture emphasizing teamwork, clear communication, and accountability. Beyond operational management, this role is about creating an environment where each shift truly runs like a well-oiled fryer—efficient, enjoyable, and productive.

Whataburger’s commitment to its employees is reflected in its attractive benefits package including paid time off, 401(k) matching, medical, dental, vision, disability benefits, discounts on meals and services, fitness memberships, and scholarship opportunities for employees' dependents. These features not only help attract dedicated leaders but also support their career growth and personal development. If you are ready to take a bold step forward in your leadership journey while being part of a team that values integrity and hard work, the Shift Leader position at Whataburger offers a rewarding and enriching career path.
