The role of Shift Leader at Whataburger is vital to the smooth operation and success of each restaurant location. As a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing shift operations to ensure the restaurant maintains the highest standards of quality, service, and cleanliness. You will act as a key motivator and coach for Family Members, helping them build essential skills, gain confidence, and excel in their roles. The Shift Leader works closely with the Restaurant Manager team, helping to sharpen leadership capabilities, manage shift-level challenges, and drive overall operational excellence. This position offers a dynamic work environment where you'll lead teams during busy periods, foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture, and help translate company goals into seamless daily execution.

Job Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • possess a high school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent experience
  • be able to meet business needs and have open availability including overnights, weekends, holidays, and variable hours
  • maintain dependable attendance
  • have ability to stand up to 10 hours
  • lift up to 55 lbs
  • meet physical demands
  • possess experience coaching or leading teams
  • strong customer service, communication, and multitasking skills
  • possess ServSafe Food Certification or ability to obtain during training

Job Duties

  • Lead shift management to maintain quality, service, and cleanliness standards
  • coach, train, and motivate Family Members helping new hires ketchup quickly and seasoned pros turn up the heat
  • support goals related to food cost, labor cost, sales performance, and basic inventory processes
  • uphold food safety, workplace safety, sanitation, and compliance requirements
  • foster teamwork, communication, accountability, and a positive work culture
  • prepare, lead, and transition shift operations to keep the restaurant running smoothly
