Job Description

Whataburger is a beloved fast-food restaurant chain known for its commitment to quality, service, and community since 1950. Headquartered in the United States, Whataburger has grown into a household name by delivering bold flavors and a welcoming atmosphere that feels like family. The company prides itself on fostering a culture where every team member is valued and encouraged to grow professionally and personally. Whataburger is not simply a place to work—it’s a place to build a career with clear development paths, extensive benefits, and a supportive environment that values leadership, integrity, and teamwork.

As a Shift Leader at Whataburger, you will be an essential part of maintaining the restaurant’s smooth operation and outstanding customer experience. This role is designed for dynamic individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about leading teams to success. You will partner closely with the Restaurant Manager and other leaders to drive operational excellence across each shift, ensuring that quality, safety, and service standards are impeccably upheld. Your leadership will spark team motivation, streamline shift management, and cultivate a positive workplace culture where every team member feels inspired to perform at their best.

The position offers competitive weekly pay, flexible scheduling options—including day, night, evening, and overnight shifts—and a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to support your well-being and growth. These benefits include paid time off, 401(k) with company match, and access to medical, dental, and vision insurance plans. Additionally, Whataburger invests heavily in employee development, providing career advancement opportunities, a scholarship program for dependents, and education support such as free English language learning and reduced tuition degree pathways. Perks also extend beyond the workplace to include discounts on meals, wireless services, fitness memberships, and more.

In this role, your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass leading the shift to maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and customer service, coaching and training team members to accelerate their skills and confidence, and managing operational goals related to food and labor costs. You will ensure compliance with food safety and workplace regulations, foster teamwork and effective communication, and execute smooth shift transitions that keep the restaurant running efficiently. Your leadership will be instrumental in creating a welcoming atmosphere that fosters employee growth and delivers exceptional guest experiences.

Whataburger is more than just a fast-food chain; it’s a launchpad for bold leaders with aspirations to grow professionally and personally. If you possess a passion for leading teams, a commitment to operational excellence, and a desire to be part of a supportive and dynamic company culture, the Shift Leader role at Whataburger offers an exciting career opportunity. This position is based at your home restaurant in Tulsa, OK, with occasional opportunities to support nearby locations and participate in broader company initiatives. Whataburger is committed to diversity and inclusion, offering equal employment opportunities to all individuals regardless of race, gender identity, and other protected statuses.
