Job Description

Whataburger is a renowned American fast-food restaurant chain famous for its delicious burgers and exceptional customer service. Established in 1950, Whataburger has grown into a beloved brand with a strong emphasis on quality, community, and leadership development. The company prides itself on its commitment to fostering a positive work culture that empowers employees at every level to develop their skills and build rewarding careers. Whataburger is more than just a place to work; it's a place where bold leadership is nurtured and where every team member has meaningful opportunities to make an impact and advance professionally. With a rich legacy spanning over seven decades, Whataburger offers a dynamic and supportive environment that values integrity, teamwork, and continuous growth.

The role of a Shift Leader at Whataburger is central to the restaurant's operational success. As a Shift Leader, you will be the driving force behind each shift’s smooth execution, ensuring that operational excellence is maintained across quality, service, and cleanliness. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about leadership and are eager to inspire and develop their team members, known as Family Members, by coaching them to master their roles and gain confidence. You will partner closely with the Restaurant Manager team to sharpen your leadership skills and enhance shift-management capabilities. Your leadership will be tested and rewarded as you manage busy shifts, foster a collaborative environment, and resolve challenges proactively.

The Shift Leader position offers competitive weekly pay and flexible scheduling options including day, night, evening, and overnight shifts, making it suitable for a variety of lifestyles. Benefits include paid time off, medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) match up to 4%, short-term and long-term disability benefits, and opportunities for career progression towards management roles that can lead to six-figure earnings. The company also supports education with free English-language learning, no-cost college courses, and reduced-tuition degree programs. Additional perks comprise discounted meals, wireless service discounts, fitness and gym deals, awards programs, retirement celebrations, and more.

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Shift Leader will include leading shift management to uphold the highest standards in food quality, customer service, and cleanliness. You will be responsible for coaching, training, and motivating Family Members to ensure operational excellence, and support goals related to food costs, labor costs, sales growth, and inventory control. Ensuring food safety and workplace compliance is a top priority, along with fostering a positive work culture that emphasizes teamwork, communication, and accountability. Transitioning shifts smoothly and managing all aspects of operations to keep the restaurant running efficiently will be your hallmark.

Whataburger is passionate about giving back to its team and community. The Whataburger Family Foundation offers scholarships for dependents and grants for hardship assistance, reinforcing the company’s dedication to employee well-being. The culture encourages working together with integrity, speaking up, having fun, and winning as one team. If you are ready to take on a leadership role that challenges you to grow, learn, and succeed, Whataburger provides a supportive and rewarding platform to help you achieve your career aspirations.
