Job Description
Whataburger is a well-established fast-food restaurant chain, renowned for its commitment to quality, leadership, and exceptional customer service since 1950. It has become a staple in the food industry by focusing on bold leadership and investing in its people. With a culture that values integrity, collaboration, and growth, Whataburger offers an environment where employees can develop their skills, build confidence, and advance their careers. The company believes that every team member plays an essential role in its success and provides a variety of resources and support to help individuals thrive in their roles.
The Shift Leader position at Whataburger is a dynamic leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence and ensuring each shift runs smoothly. As a Shift Leader, you are the pivotal force within the restaurant who coaches and motivates Family Members, enabling them to refine their skills and work confidently. You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager to build shift management capabilities, enhance operational efficiency, and foster a positive work environment where teamwork and communication flourish.
This role demands a hands-on leader who can manage everyday responsibilities such as maintaining food quality, safety compliance, and cleanliness standards, while also supporting sales and labor goals. It offers flexible schedule options including day, night, evening, and overnight shifts, making it suitable for a variety of lifestyles. Whataburger supports its Shift Leaders with competitive weekly pay, comprehensive benefits, and substantial opportunities for career growth including clear paths to six-figure earnings. Additional perks include paid time off, 401(k) match, medical, dental, and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, discounts on meals, wireless services, computers and software, and gym memberships. Whataburger also provides education support with free English-language learning programs, college-level courses, and reduced tuition degrees along with scholarships and hardship grants through its Family Foundation.
The role is based primarily at the home restaurant but may include occasional support at neighboring locations or within the market. Shift Leaders engage in ongoing training and leadership development sessions that broaden their skills and deepen their connection with the Whataburger community. Whataburger is an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to diversity and inclusion, providing equal employment opportunities regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or other protected statuses. This ensures a welcoming environment for every team member and a foundation where all can succeed and make a meaningful impact.
Overall, this role is ideal for motivated individuals with a passion for leadership, team-building, operational management, and customer service excellence who seek a rewarding career within a respected and supportive organization.
