Job Description

Whataburger is a well-established fast-food restaurant chain known for its dedication to quality, strong community values, and leadership development since its founding in 1950. Renowned for its distinctive and delicious burgers, Whataburger is a place where bold leadership is nurtured and every team member is empowered to make a meaningful impact. This fast-paced environment not only focuses on delivering memorable customer experiences but also emphasizes the growth and development of its employees. With a rich history spanning over seven decades, Whataburger has built a reputation for investing in its people, upholding integrity, and fostering a collaborative and fun workspace. The company operates with a spirit of teamwork, accountability, and innovation, striving to create opportunities for every team member to move forward boldly in their careers. Whataburger also places significant attention on employee well-being by offering competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, career development opportunities, and various discounts and rewards, making it an attractive workplace for individuals seeking a fulfilling and dynamic role in the restaurant industry.

The Shift Leader role at Whataburger is a vital leadership position responsible for driving operational excellence during shifts, ensuring quality, service, and cleanliness standards are consistently met. As the spark that keeps the restaurant functioning smoothly, the Shift Leader leads by example, coaching and motivating team members — known as Family Members — to excel in their roles and build confidence. This role requires a strong commitment to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment while supporting goals related to food and labor costs, sales performance, and inventory management. Shift Leaders uphold food safety and workplace safety standards rigorously. Partnering closely with the Restaurant Manager team, Shift Leaders sharpen their leadership skills, broaden their operational expertise, and contribute to the overall success of the restaurant. The position offers flexible schedules across various shifts, competitive weekly pay, paid time off, and a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, disability benefits, and opportunities for career growth that may lead to six-figure earnings. Additionally, Whataburger offers unique benefits like scholarships for dependents, free English-language learning, college-level courses, and a range of discounts aimed at enhancing the overall employee experience. This role is based in the home restaurant but may occasionally require support at neighboring locations or involvement in broader market leadership and training programs. Whataburger is committed to equal employment opportunities and embraces diversity and inclusion in its workforce. Individuals prepared to bring their energy, leadership, and passion to a thriving fast-food culture will find the Whataburger Shift Leader position a rewarding step in their career journey.
