Job Description

Whataburger is a beloved American fast-food restaurant chain known for its iconic and customizable burgers, exceptional customer service, and vibrant team culture. Founded in 1950, Whataburger has grown steadily to become a highly respected leader in the fast-food industry, operating hundreds of locations primarily across the Southern United States. The company prides itself on its commitment to quality, bold leadership, and cultivating an empowering environment where employees are valued as family members. Whataburger invests heavily in its workforce, providing scholarship programs, career development opportunities, and a supportive culture that encourages learning and growth. With a long-standing tradition of excellence, Whataburger continually adapts to new market trends while maintaining its unique flavor and charm.

The position of Shift Leader at Whataburger is an essential role that combines leadership, operational management, and team development within the restaurant setting. As a Shift Leader, you are the driving force that keeps the restaurant operating smoothly and efficiently during your shifts. This role requires a dynamic leader who can motivate and coach team members (referred to as Family Members), ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and customer service are consistently met. You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager team to develop leadership skills and deepen your operational knowledge. Your leadership will help facilitate teamwork, maintain cleanliness, manage food and labor costs, and uphold company policies in sanitation and safety.

This role offers a competitive weekly pay with flexible schedules including day, night, evening, and overnight shifts, designed to fit a variety of lifestyles and preferences. Additional perks include paid time off, 401(k) match up to 4%, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, and both short- and long-term disability benefits. Whataburger also supports your educational ambitions through the Whataburger Family Foundation Scholarship Program, and offers free English-language learning, no-cost college courses, and reduced tuition degree pathways. Employee benefits extend to discounted meals, wireless service discounts, computer and software discounts, fitness and gym discounts, and numerous awards and recognition programs.

The Shift Leader is responsible for various critical duties such as leading shift operations to maintain service and quality standards, coaching and motivating team members, supporting business goals related to sales and inventory, and promoting a positive and accountable work environment. This role is primarily based in your home restaurant, though you may occasionally assist neighboring locations or participate in broader market leadership functions. The focus is on creating a collaborative, efficient, and safe workplace where every team member feels empowered and motivated to give their best.

Emphasizing integrity, teamwork, and a passion for excellence, Whataburger offers a unique environment where bold leadership is nurtured and career growth is actively supported. With a clear pathway to higher responsibility and earning potential, including the chance to become an Operating Partner with six-figure income possibilities, this role is ideal for individuals eager to build a rewarding career in the fast-food industry. If you are ready to lead with heart, learn continuously, and make a meaningful impact, Whataburger welcomes you to join their family and move forward boldly.
