Job Description

Whataburger is a renowned fast-food restaurant chain established in 1950, recognized for its commitment to quality, community, and bold leadership. With a strong presence across numerous locations, Whataburger is more than just a place to enjoy delicious burgers; it is a workplace that emphasizes growth, teamwork, and operational excellence. The company has built a reputation for fostering a positive work culture where integrity, collaboration, and passion for service are key ingredients in its recipe for success. Whataburger not only serves customers but also invests heavily in the development of its team members, ensuring that employees are empowered to advance their careers while contributing meaningfully to their communities. Offering flexible schedules, competitive pay, and a comprehensive benefits package, Whataburger creates an environment where people can thrive both personally and professionally.

The role of Shift Leader at Whataburger is pivotal to ensuring the restaurant operates smoothly and efficiently. In this leadership position, you will take charge of daily shift operations, driving standards in quality, service, and cleanliness to deliver an exceptional customer experience. As a Shift Leader, you will coach and motivate Family Members—Whataburger's term for team members—to build their skills and confidence, creating a supportive and energetic work atmosphere. You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager team to sharpen your leadership abilities, enhance shift management capabilities, and strengthen the overall operational foundation of the restaurant. Your responsibilities include overseeing labor and food costs, maintaining compliance with food safety regulations, and fostering teamwork and accountability among staff.

This position offers a competitive weekly salary and benefits that include paid time off, a 401(k) match up to 4%, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as short-term and long-term disability benefits. Additional perks include opportunities for career development with a clear path to six-figure earnings, scholarship programs through the Whataburger Family Foundation, education support like free English-language learning and no-cost college-level courses, discounted meals for you and a guest, and various discounts on wireless service, computers, and fitness memberships. Recognitions such as awards, retirement celebration programs, and more make Whataburger a rewarding place to work and grow your career.

Working as a Shift Leader is a dynamic and rewarding experience where no two days are the same. You will lead the team through busy rushes, inspire collaboration, and problem-solve challenges to turn them into opportunities for growth. This role requires strong communication, multitasking abilities, and a passion for service. Beyond leading your home restaurant, you may also provide support at neighboring locations and participate in company meetings and training to remain engaged and connected with the wider Whataburger community. If you are ready to make a difference, develop your leadership skills, and be part of a vibrant team that values boldness and heart, Whataburger offers the perfect recipe for your career advancement.
