Job Description

Whataburger is a beloved fast-food restaurant chain known for its commitment to quality, customer service, and fostering a positive work culture. Since its founding in 1950, Whataburger has grown into an iconic brand in the fast-food industry, prized for its bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and dedication to both team members and customers. The company emphasizes integrity, collaborative teamwork, and leadership development, making it an excellent workplace for individuals looking to grow their careers.

This opportunity invites passionate and dedicated individuals to join the Whataburger team as Shift Leaders. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational excellence of the restaurant during your shift. As a Shift Leader, you will ensure the smooth running of the restaurant, maintain the highest standards of quality, service, and cleanliness, and support various operational goals including food cost control, labor management, and inventory processes. Embedded in the Whataburger culture is the spirit of teamwork, and as a Shift Leader, you will play a key role in fostering positive relationships, communication, and accountability among your team members.

The Shift Leader position offers competitive weekly pay and flexible scheduling options, including day, night, evening, and overnight shifts to accommodate a wide range of availability. In addition to financial compensation, Whataburger provides a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, a 401(k) matching program up to 4%, and competitive medical, dental, and vision coverage. Employees also have access to short-term and long-term disability insurance, scholarship programs via the Whataburger Family Foundation, and education support programs featuring free English-learning courses and reduced-tuition degree pathways.

Career growth is a primary focus at Whataburger. Shift Leaders have a clear path to advancement, where they can develop essential leadership skills and potentially reach the position of Operating Partner, a role known to offer six-figure income opportunities. The company also offers unique perks such as discounted meals, wireless service discounts, computer and software discounts, fitness and gym discounts, and various awards and recognition programs to celebrate employee contributions.

Whataburger believes in providing an inclusive and supportive working environment that values diversity and equal opportunity. The company participates in the federal E-Verify Program to confirm employment eligibility and ensures compliance with all applicable laws governing employment and workplace safety.

Embodying the values of leadership, teamwork, and dedication, the Shift Leader role at Whataburger is perfect for individuals who are ready to make a difference, grow their skills, and contribute to a team-oriented environment. This role is based primarily in your home restaurant but may occasionally require support at neighboring locations or involvement in broader market leadership initiatives. Opportunities for continuous learning and professional development are abundant, with training sessions and leadership meetings that keep you connected to the greater Whataburger community and prepared for future career opportunities.
