The Food Server role at Loews Philadelphia Hotel is an essential position responsible for ensuring guests receive impeccable service from start to finish. Candidates will maintain thorough knowledge of the menu, including ingredients and preparation methods, to confidently help guide guests through their dining experience. Attention to detail is critical in setting up stations with all necessary supplies and managing the timing and presentation of orders accurately. Great communication skills are necessary to greet guests warmly and professionally while promoting menu items to enhance their dining enjoyment. Servers manage order entry via POS terminals, coordinate food preparation timing, and ensure orders are delivered to guests with high quality and consistency. In addition to serving, team members collect payments, handle cash deposits, complete shift reports, and perform side duties as assigned, contributing to the smooth operation of the dining area.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one plus years experience as a food server in a high volume upscale hotel or restaurant environment
  • thorough knowledge of food terminology and food service techniques
  • strong sanitation standards knowledge
  • exceptional guest service skills
  • basic computer skills
  • physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and lift trays weighing up to 35 pounds repeatedly
  • availability to work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • maintains current knowledge of all menu offerings including ingredients and preparation methods
  • sets up assigned station with all required supplies 'Mis en Place'
  • greets guests politely and professionally according to Loews standards
  • suggestively sells menu items to enhance the dining experience
  • records all aspects of guest orders accurately into POS terminal
  • coordinates order placement to ensure consistent timing throughout the meal
  • monitors preparation of individual courses ensuring proper flow
  • inspects presentation of food to ensure quality
  • serves all food and beverage items professionally
  • monitors guests at all times, anticipates needs, and ensures satisfaction
  • prepares and presents accurate and complete guest checks
  • collects payments and applies charges using POS terminal
  • completes end of shift revenue reports and cash deposits
  • performs all side work duties assigned by manager
  • promotes and applies teamwork skills
  • notifies relevant personnel of problems promptly
  • remains polite, friendly and helpful to guests and team members
  • executes emergency procedures per hotel standards
  • complies with safety regulations and procedures
  • attends hotel meetings and training sessions
  • maintains cleanliness and condition of equipment and work area
  • complies with hotel policies, standards, and uniform grooming requirements
  • recycles whenever possible
  • stays current with hotel information and updates
  • performs other duties as assigned
