Job Description

The Dewberry is a distinguished luxury hotel situated in the heart of downtown Charleston, directly adjacent to Marion Square and within close proximity to the vibrant King Street shopping and dining district, Museum Mile, and the Gaillard Center. Originally the Mendel Rivers federal building completed around 1964, this historic property has undergone a meticulously planned eight-year renovation and preservation project spearheaded by owner John Dewberry. Embracing a "Southern ReimaginedTM" vision, The Dewberry flawlessly blends Charleston's rich architectural heritage with modern luxury and style. The hotel boasts elegant event spaces, nationally recognized cocktail programs at its Brass Bar and the whimsical Citrus Club lounge, an urban oasis Spa, and a curated boutique called The Shop. Awarded the prestigious title of 2025 Virtuoso Best Independent Hotel in the World and named on the 2022 Cond Nast Traveler Gold List as the Best Hotel in the World, The Dewberry holds a global reputation for outstanding hospitality excellence. Known for creating authentic, humble, and innovative guest experiences, the hotel cultivates a brand culture that is both welcoming and committed to exceeding expectations. Each team member plays a vital role in contributing to the seamless operation and success of this renowned establishment.

The Breakfast Server at The Dewberry plays an integral role in delivering a polished, memorable breakfast experience to guests within the hotel's restaurant. Collaborating closely with both the service and culinary teams, this position requires someone who can provide gracious, timely, and knowledgeable food and beverage service while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor at all times. The Breakfast Server’s responsibilities include immediately attending to guests upon their seating, offering water and beverage service promptly, and suggesting daily specials and seasonal menu enhancements to elevate the guest experience. Accurate order taking and communication with the kitchen team regarding allergies, dietary restrictions, or special requests are critical, as is the efficient delivery of food and beverages that align with the hotel’s upscale service standards and food handling procedures. Throughout the meal, the Breakfast Server ensures guest satisfaction by replenishing drinks and condiments and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining room and service areas. Additional duties include assisting with clearing and resetting tables quickly to support continuous service flow and staying informed of daily updates through pre-service meetings. This full-time or part-time role demands the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, as well as flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays. Offering not only a dynamic work environment in a prestigious setting, The Dewberry also supports its employees with education reimbursement, complementary downtown parking, leading health and supplemental insurance options, financial advising, and opportunities for career advancement and growth. Flexible paid time off policies further contribute to an excellent employee experience. Joining The Dewberry means becoming part of a team committed to excellence and passionate about offering every guest a flawless, memorable stay.
