The role of a Restaurant Server at Neiman Marcus is pivotal to maintaining the brand’s reputation for exceptional customer service. As a server, you will be a key contributor to the dining experience, ensuring guests receive attentive and knowledgeable service that enhances their visit. The server uses an extensive knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including preparation methods, culinary terminology, and beverage pairings involving wine, beer, and spirits. They will manage multiple tasks with grace and efficiency within their assigned dining section, contributing to the seamless operation of the restaurant.

This role requires a dynamic individual who can interact graciously with guests, handle complex orders accurately, and maintain the highest hygiene and appearance standards to uphold the brand’s image. Servers participate actively in daily pre-shift meetings and adhere to strict accounting procedures related to sales transactions, including the proficient use of Point of Sale (POS) systems. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleanliness in the dining and workstation areas, managing physical tasks such as moving furniture, and coordinating schedule commitments considering business needs.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience in serving food and beverage and following proper table service guidelines
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Motivated and results-driven
  • Thorough knowledge of order of service and proper placement of table settings
  • Thorough knowledge of food including preparation and culinary terminology
  • Ability to interact graciously with the public and handle multiple duties at the same time
  • Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Must be physically capable of standing, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting and carrying 35 pounds
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Serve assigned seating section of dining area in a professional and gracious manner
  • Utilize thorough knowledge of food including preparation and culinary terminology to provide detailed information to customers about menu items
  • Leverage knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits including technical and service procedures
  • Interact graciously with the public and handle multiple duties at the same time
  • Participate in daily pre-shift meeting
  • Adhere to established accounting procedures for all transactions including authorized methods of payment and maintain knowledge of the POS system
  • Execute pre-shift, post-shift, and daily and weekly duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Fulfill duties involving lifting objects such as tables, chairs, highchairs
  • Clean and maintain restaurant and workstation
  • Maintain highest level of hygiene standards including clean, pressed uniform jacket and clothing, clean and professionally styled hair and nails
  • Exercise integrity with scheduling by punching in and out before and after every scheduled shift, follow established procedure for schedule and shift changes, take appropriate lunch breaks, and coordinate holiday, vacation, and time off with management considering restaurant needs
