The Server Assistant role at Rosewood Sand Hill is integral to maintaining the high standards of service and guest satisfaction expected at this esteemed property. As a part-time position within the Food & Beverage - Services department, the Server Assistant will support the efficient operation of the hotel’s dining venues. This role primarily involves assisting servers by running food orders to guests and ensuring an elevated guest experience through attentive and refined service. The Server Assistant is responsible for helping uphold the aesthetics and functionality of the dining setup including the proper use of utensils, glassware, and garnishes, and maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout the service areas.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience working in fine dining or luxury hotel food and beverage service preferred
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to exert physical effort including transporting up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of proper food handling and safety procedures
  • Must maintain confidentiality of guest information
  • California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certificate and Food Handler Card preferred
  • Must be punctual and reliable

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a food runner, server assistant, or host in a fine dining or luxury hotel environment preferred

Job Duties

  • Maintains knowledge of all menu items and specials and explains descriptions to guests
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of table setup and service using correct glassware, utensils, settings, and garnishes
  • Uses equipment properly and maintains correct maintenance of equipment
  • Utilizes proper food handling and food service techniques
  • Assists servers in taking and delivering food and beverage orders promptly and accurately
  • Exhibits friendly, helpful, and courteous manner when dealing with guests and associates
  • Anticipates guests' needs and maintains positive guest relations at all times
  • Works closely with the expeditor to prepare for food running
  • Maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned stations and service areas
  • Removes soiled wares and transports to dishwashing area
  • Sets up and cleans dining areas while maintaining hospitality and service standards
  • Completes side work duties as assigned by management
  • Collaborates with various outlets and departments to assist food delivery and support operations
  • Practices all safety and loss prevention procedures
  • Meets or exceeds standards of appearance, cleanliness, and personal hygiene
  • Other duties as assigned
