Job Description
Vandelay Companies has been a leading force in the hospitality industry for over a decade, known for delivering iconic and enduring hospitality experiences. With a diverse and growing portfolio of distinguished dining concepts including Hudson House, Drake's Hollywood, and D.Every, Vandelay celebrates the spirit of American dining through timeless spaces, genuine warmth, and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Each of these establishments aims to create memorable moments for guests, emphasizing exceptional service and a welcoming atmosphere that stands out in the competitive hospitality landscape.
Hudson House is a standout concept within the Vandelay portfolio where a Host plays a pivotal role in crafting the guest experience. The Host is the first and last point of contact for guests, responsible for delivering a warm, gracious welcome and efficiently managing the seating of guests according to availability. This role requires a dynamic individual who can confidently manage dining room flow, juggling reservations, private bookings, special events, and walk-ins with tact and professionalism. The Host not only assists guests on their arrival but also ensures seamless communication among servers, managers, and fellow hosts to maintain a smooth front-of-house operation.
More than just a seating coordinator, the Host at Hudson House takes a concierge-level approach to hospitality, ensuring every guest feels comfortable and well cared for throughout their visit. Responsibilities include reviewing RESY reservation books and guest profiles, updating the RESY database with precise notes, adapting to reservation changes, and managing private bookings and events with precision. The ability to answer phone calls warmly and professionally, providing callers with detailed information and care, is essential. Hosts manage a variety of operational tasks including opening and closing procedures, side-work, and maintaining the host stand and entry area to ensure it is organized and polished.
This full-time role is perfect for passionate hospitality professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. It offers the opportunity to grow and develop within the restaurant and the wider Vandelay Hospitality Group. The company values employees’ growth and promotes a culture of learning, with training quizzes and ongoing development in service standards and guest experience.
Vandelay is committed to offering excellent benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible scheduling options, and dining discounts across all its hospitality concepts. Importantly, the company respects and supports its team by closing all restaurants on major holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the 4th of July, allowing employees to enjoy these special times with their loved ones. Vandelay also prides itself on fostering an inclusive workplace and provides equal employment opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, or any other protected category.
If you are enthusiastic about creating memorable hospitality experiences and eager to be part of a passionate, collaborative team, the Host position at Hudson House offers a rewarding career path with a company that truly values its people and the guests they serve.
