The role of Food Server at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel is pivotal in delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests. As a Food Server, you will be responsible for maintaining an in-depth knowledge of menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, presentation, and timing for each dish. Your role involves setting up your station with all necessary supplies, greeting guests in a warm and professional manner consistent with Loews standards, and suggestively selling menu items to enhance the dining experience. Accurate and prompt order taking using the POS terminal is essential, alongside coordinating meal preparation and delivery to ensure smooth service flow.

Monitoring the preparation of courses, inspecting food presentation, and serving food and beverages professionally are critical to guaranteeing guests receive a quality product. You will also anticipate guest needs, respond to requests, and ensure overall satisfaction during the meal. Handling guest checks, payments, end-of-shift reports, and performing side work duties as assigned by supervisors are also integral to this role. The Food Server position demands teamwork, excellent communication with guests and team members, and adherence to safety and cleanliness standards at all times. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One plus years experience as a food server in high volume upscale hotel or restaurant environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend and lift trays weighing up to 35 pounds repetitively during entire shift
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to guest satisfaction
  • Adherence to health and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • One plus years experience as a food server in high volume upscale hotel or restaurant environment
  • Thorough knowledge of food terminology, food service techniques and sanitation standards
  • Exceptional guest service skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend and lift trays weighing up to 35 pounds repetitively during entire shift
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Maintain current knowledge of all menu offerings including ingredients, preparation method and time required, presentation and appearance
  • Set up assigned station with all required supplies, 'Mis en Place'
  • Greet guests in a polite professional manner according to Loews standards
  • Suggestively sell menu items to guests to enhance the dining experience
  • Record all aspects of guests order accurately and enter guest orders into POS terminal
  • Coordinate placement of order so timing of preparation and delivery flows consistently throughout meal
  • Monitor preparation of individual courses to ensure proper flow
  • Inspect presentation of all food items to ensure quality product delivery as ordered
  • Serve all food and beverage items professionally according to Loews standards
  • Monitor guests at all times, anticipate needs, respond to requests, ensure satisfaction
  • Prepare and present accurate, complete guest check
  • Collect monies or apply charges to guest account using POS terminal
  • Complete end of shift revenue report and cash deposit
  • Perform all side work duties as assigned by manager or supervisor
  • Promote and apply teamwork skills at all times
  • Notify appropriate individual promptly of problems or unusual matters
  • Comply with required safety regulations and procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area
  • Comply with hotel standards, policies and rules
  • Recycle whenever possible
  • Comply with hotel uniform and grooming standards
  • Attend hotel meetings and training sessions
  • Execute emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards
  • Remain current with hotel information and changes
