Job Description
The Village at Gainesville is a distinguished senior living community located on a sprawling 104-acre campus that offers residents an unparalleled living experience with a blend of comfort, community, and high-quality care. Known for its professional and engaging environment, the community is dedicated to improving the lives of seniors through compassionate service and enriching activities. Beyond the campus, Gainesville is a vibrant city known for its rich academic environment with the University of Florida and Santa Fe College, which add to the city's youthful and dynamic atmosphere. The area boasts access to shopping, theaters, restaurants, and a welcoming community atmosphere, making it an excellent place to live and work for employees and residents alike.
The Village at Gainesville stands out as a place where employees are valued as key contributors to the community's success. The server position offers a unique opportunity to be part of this supportive family-like atmosphere. This role is flexible, providing part-time and full-time options that are especially suitable for students and individuals seeking to avoid late-night shifts. Unlike traditional restaurant roles, this job ensures that shifts conclude by or shortly after 8 p.m., allowing for a balanced work-life schedule. The position is non-tipped and entails providing excellent dining service to residents in a professional and friendly manner. Servers at The Village are integral in maintaining a warm and respectful environment, treating residents not merely as guests but as members of their home.
This role is ideal for candidates who are cheerful, energetic, motivated, and passionate about service. Duties include serving food and beverages, maintaining sanitation standards, and assisting in dining room setup and cleanup. Servers work closely with the Dining Services Supervisor and Manager to ensure the dining experience meets high standards of quality and hospitality. After a year of employment, employees are eligible for scholarships, underscoring the community’s investment in professional growth and development. The Village at Gainesville also offers a comprehensive benefits package that supports employee health, financial security, education, and overall well-being.
The work environment at The Village is clean, well-lit, and well-ventilated, with a kitchen area that may be warm and humid at times. Employees should be comfortable handling food and beverage equipment and capable of physical tasks such as standing for extended periods and lifting trays weighing up to 30 pounds. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, guests, and other staff members are essential for success in this position. The Village at Gainesville fosters a culture of respect, professionalism, and collaboration, making it an excellent choice for those who want to make a difference in the lives of seniors while enjoying a supportive workplace.
