Mad Town Gastropub is a renowned dining establishment located within the bustling Madison Regional Airport. As part of a prestigious group under SSP, a global leader in airport hospitality, the gastropub provides travelers and locals alike with a vibrant menu that celebrates local flavors combined with contemporary gastropub cuisine. We are currently looking to hire Servers who are passionate about hospitality and eager to contribute to a dynamic team environment. This role involves interacting directly with guests, offering insightful menu guidance, and delivering prompt and attentive service. Servers at Mad Town Gastropub are vital in creating a positive dining atmosphere by anticipating guest needs, managing orders accurately through the POS system, and ensuring that all food and beverage services meet our high standards. In addition to typical serving duties like clearing tables and balancing guest checks, our servers also assist in food preparation tasks such as ladling soup, tossing salads, cutting desserts, and brewing coffee.

This position offers flexible working hours with both full-time and part-time shifts available, accommodating a variety of schedules. We provide competitive hourly compensation starting at $2.35 plus tips, with the average hourly earnings ranging between $28 and $32. Employees also benefit from a free meal every shift and two weeks of paid time off annually. Ideal candidates for the Server role possess basic mathematical skills, a good command of verbal and written English for effective communication, and experience in retail or food service environments, preferably six months or more. A high school diploma is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates must be able to stand for long periods and work efficiently in confined spaces. Holding a valid food handler's permit and brand certification, as required by law, is essential. Job Requirements

  • 6 months' experience working in retail or food service environment preferred
  • High school diploma preferred
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language to communicate with guests and take orders
  • Experience in dealing with problems involving customer service
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops
  • Food handlers permit, as required by law
  • Brand certification, as required
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time

Job Duties

  • Answer questions and offer suggestions regarding food, beverages, and services of the facility
  • Accurately input orders into the POS system
  • Prepare dishes for service, to include ladling soup, tossing salads, cutting portions of pie and desserts, and brewing coffee
  • Observe guests to anticipate their needs and respond to any additional requests
  • Clear all dishes away from table
  • Balance and reconcile all assigned open and closed checks by totaling bills and accepting payments
  • Clear and reset all counters or tables at the conclusion of each course
  • Other duties as assigned
