Job Description
Waffle House has been a cornerstone of the American restaurant industry since its founding in 1955. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and consistent quality, Waffle House has grown exponentially over the decades, now operating more than 1,830 company-owned restaurants across the nation, with plans to open an additional 800+ locations over the next ten years. Operating exclusively through company ownership rather than franchising allows Waffle House to maintain high standards and strong corporate values. This unique business model is a significant contributor to the company’s continuous growth and consistent career advancement opportunities for its employees. The establishment fosters a culture committed to professional achievement and outstanding career prospects unmatched in the restaurant sector.
At Waffle House, career progression is a priority, with a clear path laid out for motivated and high-energy individuals who are ready to take on leadership roles. The company believes in promoting from within, creating an environment where employees can start at entry-level positions and ascend to significant managerial roles. The position offered is full-time and comes with an attractive salary range for restaurant managers between $63,000 and $80,000 per year, in addition to performance bonuses and potential annual bonuses for employees with a four-year degree. This financial package is complemented by a comprehensive benefits program that further enhances job satisfaction and employee well-being.
The role itself is designed for individuals who value long-term career advancement in the restaurant and hospitality industry. No prior restaurant experience is required, as Waffle House provides a thorough three-month paid training program. This program equips new hires with the know-how and skills to manage restaurant operations efficiently and prepares them for future multi-unit leadership opportunities within the company. Leaders at Waffle House are responsible for operational excellence, delivering exceptional customer service, managing staff, and maintaining the company’s reputation for quality and consistency.
Career advancement at Waffle House is clearly structured, with roles progressing from Restaurant Manager to District Manager overseeing 2 to 3 restaurants, and further up to Division Manager managing 6 to 9 restaurants. The average time to promotion is relatively short, with many moving to District Manager positions within 1 to 2 years, and Division Manager roles within 3 to 5 years. In addition to monetary compensation, the company also offers unique stock ownership opportunities including annual stock options and career stock options granted at hire and with each promotion, which empowers employees to invest in their own future as part-owners of Waffle House.
Aside from the competitive salary and growth potential, the company values work-life balance and employee wellness. Employees enjoy benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and life insurance for themselves and their families. Waffle House also provides three separate 10-day vacation periods annually, paid medical, maternity, and family leave after one year of service, and a guaranteed schedule of six days on with two days off, a policy that is unmatched in the industry. These substantial benefits reflect the company’s commitment to maintaining a supportive and engaging workplace.
Interested candidates can look forward to joining a company that not only offers a rewarding career path but also invests significantly in employee development and personal growth.
