The company's mission revolves around providing great food, excellent customer service, and fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment. Whataburger is not just a place to grab a meal; it is a place where bold leadership begins, and personal and professional growth is nurtured. The company strongly believes in investing in people, encouraging teamwork, and celebrating achievements. Whataburger's commitment to its employees is evident through its numerous benefits, career development opportunities, and a culture that values integrity and service with heart.
The role of a Restaurant Manager at Whataburger is pivotal in maintaining the high standards of the brand. Positioned at a high-volume location with average annual sales exceeding $4 million and a team of over fifty Family Members, the Restaurant Manager is entrusted with overseeing daily operations to ensure quality, service, and cleanliness meet company expectations. The role is designed to cultivate well-rounded leadership skills by rotating through Customer, Quality, and People Areas of Responsibility (AORs). This comprehensive exposure prepares managers for potential advancement to Operating Partner roles, which offer opportunities to earn a six-figure income.
A Restaurant Manager at Whataburger makes a significant impact by supporting operational performance, developing team members, fostering partnership with leadership, and driving operational improvements. Responsibilities include managing sales, labor, and food costs while ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace safety standards. The manager acts as a model for Whataburger values, promoting a positive and inclusive workplace culture that encourages teamwork and hospitality. This leadership role requires someone who is passionate about creating memorable customer experiences while building and sustaining a motivated and capable team.
Whataburger offers a competitive compensation package for Restaurant Managers, including a competitive weekly pay rate and a bonus program with 2.5 times upside potential. Employees receive paid time off, paid holidays (including Christmas), and paid parental leave. Retirement benefits are bolstered by a 401(k) match of 1 to 1 up to 4%, along with comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits. Short-term and long-term disability coverage are also provided. Additionally, Whataburger supports career development through education benefits, access to free English-language learning, no-cost college-level courses, and pathways to reduced college tuition. The company values its employees by offering discounted meals, wireless service discounts, software discounts, gym discounts, awards and recognition programs, and even retirement celebration initiatives. The Whataburger Family Foundation provides scholarships for dependents and hardship grant assistance, further demonstrating the company's commitment to its team.
The work environment is dynamic, based primarily in the restaurant where the manager leads the team and supports operations. Restaurant Managers occasionally assist neighboring locations and participate in business meetings, training, and leadership development sessions to maintain connection with the broader Whataburger network. This role requires a dedicated individual with strong leadership skills, the ability to manage multiple operational aspects, and a genuine desire to contribute to a vibrant company culture. Whataburger is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion, ensuring a fair workplace for all employees and applicants.
