Job Description
Whataburger is a renowned American fast-food restaurant chain established in 1950, famous for its made-to-order burgers and commitment to quality and community. Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, Whataburger has grown into a beloved brand with a strong presence across the Southern United States, known for its distinctive orange-and-white stripes and dedication to customer service excellence. The company focuses heavily on employee development, diversity, and a positive work culture that encourages teamwork and upward mobility. Whataburger’s operations revolve around delivering great food, fast service, and a welcoming atmosphere to millions of customers annually, sustained by its passionate and motivated team members.
The Restaurant Manager role at Whataburger is a pivotal leadership position designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to make a significant impact. With responsibility for a high-volume location averaging over $4 million in annual sales and leading a team of more than fifty Family Members, the Restaurant Manager plays an essential role in creating an environment where great food, exceptional service, and strong teamwork come together daily. This position involves managing all aspects of restaurant operations, including quality assurance, customer service, labor and cost control, employee development, and compliance with food and workplace safety standards.
As a Restaurant Manager, you will rotate through areas of responsibility such as Customer Experience, Quality Control, and People Operations to build comprehensive leadership skills. The position offers significant career growth opportunities, helping you prepare for future roles such as Operating Partner, where earning a six-figure income is attainable. Whataburger supports its managers with competitive weekly pay, performance bonuses with substantial upside, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, paid time off including paid holidays and parental leave, and a 401(k) plan with company matching. The company also offers educational benefits, including free English-language learning, no-cost college courses, scholarships for dependents, and hardship grant assistance.
In addition to daily operational leadership, Restaurant Managers at Whataburger also play an active role in championing the brand’s values and fostering a positive, inclusive workplace. The role requires meeting sales goals, managing food quality and safety, leading training and development initiatives, and maintaining smooth shift transitions. Whataburger prides itself on being more than a fast-food chain; it is a place where bold leadership begins, potential is nurtured, and teamwork drives success. This position is based in a home restaurant with occasional support responsibilities at neighboring locations and involves participation in training sessions and organizational meetings.
If you are passionate about leading a dedicated team, eager to develop your leadership skills, and want to work for a company committed to your growth and success, the Restaurant Manager role at Whataburger offers an exciting career path full of rewards and opportunities. Join Whataburger to be part of a company that values integrity, teamwork, and putting people first, and help deliver unforgettable dining experiences to customers every day while advancing your professional journey.
